I think someone made this account just to take over the position of Turkey in this game:

22 Dead in China - Kinfe Control Laws Needed
Well, come on...let's make sure we are applying consistent logic...

If we all consume our foods in government housing at the government cafeteria, we don't really need knives. It would also reduce the carbon footprint of housing, thyus "saving the planet". You don't *need* a house, and you don't *need* all your knives.

Let's see if you all can apply consistent logic and call for the banning of personal knives, because I can very easily construct a world in which you live without knives.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))

You forgot to point out a weird coincidence…

"The injuries were gruesome, and reportedly include cut-off fingers and ears, but this story had a different outcome from the massacre 8,000 miles away in Newtown, Conn. Everyone survived."

Semi-automatic versus a knife? I'd bet on the semi-automatic.
krellin (80 DX)
17 Dec 12 UTC
Regardless of survival rates, if your kid had his fingers chopped off by a madman, you would want knife control.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
17 Dec 12 UTC
I'm not saying knives aren't deadly, and I'm honestly happy to ban knives as weaponry, but unlike guns, you do other things with knives, and they aren't deadly if someone is there to stop it.

By the way, I like your ridiculously unnecessary and irrelevant environmental joke you threw in there. You just wait till you're old and the younger generation is actually making an impact on it.

@krellin:
Knives and choppers are a part of everyday life in China. Necessary to prepare food.
You couldn't ban them any more than you could ban a microwave oven from a US household (ok, cheap shot). Still, the point remains the same. Those are their tools of everyday life. They would only be used in an offensive manner, I guess, if one of their family was being threatened. Grab the nearest thing to hand. Go for him. That's what I'd do, and I'm not Chinese.

Guns are 'slightly' different. Since the age of supermarkets, we haven't had to go hunt and kill for our food. Just as well; most of us would probably starve. So, do I need an AK47 to dice my carrots? It might do a decent job (once we pick them off the walls), but I think not.

Knife control in China = nonsense.
Gun control in USA = "Sorry, we've still got the cowboy mentality. Go for your piece, dude!"

What is the point? You can't equate two opposites/totally different mindsets.

Timur....tsk tsk tsk....the dont' HAVE to be, my friend. In my Government-Sponsored Utopia we can ALL be saved from the danger of sharp and pointy objects.

After all, if our objective, so often lamented in the press and by the sheep-like automatons that take their talking points from the hype-of-the-day, is true -- "If we could save just one more child's life.." -- then the solution is *total* government control. Government housing, government transportation, government jobs and government food from your nice government cafeteria.

Once you realize that your self-centered life of excess is unnecessary, you will freely give up all the gross extraneous items in your life and you will gladly forfeit your indivdual freedoms for the soft, safe life of my government Utopia.

Knives are necessities? lol....silly boy. That's simply *nonsense*...
Timur (684 D(B))
17 Dec 12 UTC
Eh . . . I certainly wouldn't recommend the cafeterias! Actually, nor any of the other things you mentioned. WTF do you think? I believe in this BS?
I just wanted to say . . . we're all fecked in our own different ways. How original, huh?
Timur (684 D(B))

@k: "Knives are necessities? lol....silly boy."
JC, it took our predecessors thousands of years to hone the technology for metalworking and discover the miracle of fire. Why did they bother their asses if those particular tools weren't slightly useful, or indeed central to their lives?

You know what I've noticed, krellin?

Something you and Putin share, despite being on severe opposite ends of the aisle...

You're BOTH incredibly insulting, pugnacious, condescending, stubborn, dogmatic, and a conversation with a brick wall is quite often a good deal more fulfilling.

The manner in which you talk down to people here is appalling, and you should feel ashamed.
obiwanobiwan (248 D)
17 Dec 12 UTC
NO REASON to be so condescending towards Timur like that.
Timur (684 D(B))
17 Dec 12 UTC
If this is in any way connected to our previous posts, I would like to say I have been condescended upon and been insulted a whole bunch more effectively than this over the years. No worries. 'Lay on, Macduff'. And may the best man have to play Greece in Ancient Mediterranian.
Timur (684 D(B))
17 Dec 12 UTC
Oh, man, I have been condescended (upon/towards/unto)! I don't have the grammar for that. Arrgh!
Timur (684 D(B))
17 Dec 12 UTC
Obi, by telling K not to be condescending to me, that is being condescending to me.
No worries. Just thought I'd say.

Ok, you're playing me.

Yes, Mr Krellin, it seems that knives are indeed necessities. Guns are not.

@Obi, you missed the main difference. Putin, despite his serious flaws, is an actual intelligent, compassionate human being.

@Krellin, when *King Atom* is agreeing with you with his supremacist comments, even in jest, you know something is wrong.

Obi saysm, "You're BOTH incredibly insulting, pugnacious, condescending, stubborn, dogmatic, and a conversation with a brick wall is quite often a good deal more fulfilling."

Haaaaa ha ha ha ha! Projecting your self-examination session with the shrink? I may be all those things, but I'm not an English major with no communication skills, I'm not an atheist that pretends to be a Jew. I'm not a homosexual pretending to be asexual. I'm not a religious bigot pretending to be open-minded and tolerant. Shall I go on?

At least when you deal with me, you will get a fairly consistent argument, and I try to apply my logic across the board. If you want to ban <weapon a> because it kills kids, then ban ALL child-killing weapons.

And for the record, morons, this post is FACETIOUS! Do you idiots really think I want to ban knives? Are you all so narrow minded that you can't grasp a little over-the-top sarcasm in an attempt to highlight the absurdity of your own positions? Banning guns is *ridiculous* and won't happen...but if you WANT them banned...then you better watch out, because once you give the government THAT power, everything else in your life is vulnerable.

God forbid any of you ever read Jonathan Swift...it'll set your ignorant head's spinning.

And what you call arrogance, I call certainty of my beliefs. funny, if I have beliefs and stand by them, I'm arrogant and stupid. if YOU all have beliefs you stand by, you are just being reasonable. Such hypocrisy.

As for Condescending…I confess….I look down on the great majority of you for your inability to hold a logically consistent stance from one issue to the next…i.e. most of you are political and social hypocrites.

And if you hate me so much...shut the fuck up and go away.

Good day, children.
