More seriously, refusing to trust my gut cost me yet again. Spring 1901 I didnt get a very good feeling and felt I should hit Venice or Try, but decided not to, and paid for it. I felt Russia seemed genuine about DMZing Gal, but he said he wasn't going to open north. I didnt see a likely pure southern opening that didn't involve him opening to Galacia, soo I ordered there aassuming I'd bounce, and paid for it. In the fall, I ffelt I should take Greece and try the anti-crusher, but wimped out and covered Greece, and paid for it.
I told Italy that if he assaulted me, I would ensure that he fell along with me, so I did everything I could to be a man of my word. I also tried to get Turkey big enough that I may have been able to sneak into a draw, but I knew it was not likely to happen, and it didn't.
It was disappointing to not be able to get out of the gate, but it happens sometimes.
