Ankara Crescent Gunboat 100% VCs
The AC GB 100% VC SRG was something I ran on vDip a while ago, and it was very well received due to the novelty of the idea. The problem with it being based around novelty is, of course, that the novelty wears off, so since most vDippers have now played it the interest over there has died down. In an attempt to revive my variant (at least for a while), I'm inviting any WebDippers who want to to try it out.

Even as a conservative, I find the arguments against renewable energy laughable. Oil is not a long-term solution. It's expensive and gives too much money to oppressive regimes in the Middle East (plus Venezuela), and renewable energies can re-pay for themselves eventually.

Especially in the US, where solar outputs would be much higher than in say Germany, and we have several large rivers that could be used for hydroelectric. Not to mention all the coastline, and the windy areas in the center of the country (and up in the mountains).

Plus nuclear energy.

Why the fuck are we still on oil? (besides for cars)
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))

Nuclear fusion.

That answers everything.

Chaqa - of course economically viable renewable energy is a *Conservative* concept - who doesn't want cheap reliable energy? The idea the "Liberals" are the only ones seeking renewable is laughable - the problem is the technology that has been widely pursued - wind and solar, both hideously unreliable and expensive.

But really, the best source of continuous renewable energy would be to collect and extract the chemical energy of aborted fetuses...and when we finally get our collective heads out of our <you knows...> and pass the PostPartum Abortion laws, we can clean the schools and streets of the non-productive, violent and unwanted youth that are dragging down the system.

Lots of chemical energy stored up in all these resources that are currently either thrown in the trash, or otherwise milling about society consuming (wasting) energy and other valuable, limited resources.
Wave / underwater turbines - which offer a much "smoother", continuous energy source have gone largely unresearched...because the Federal government has thrown billions after the highly visible (and hideously unreliable and expensive) wind and solar.

Nah....the North Dakota Oil BOOM answers everything...
JECE (1253 D)

Chaqa: "This guy knows what he's talking about."
Of course he does. Let me translate:

'Conservatives should in theory like renewable energy.'

'TROLL TROLL TROLL TROLL TROLL TROLL TROLL TROLL TROLL TROLL TROLL TROLL TROLL TROLL TROLL TROLL TROLL TROLL TROLL TROLL TROLL TROLL TROLL TROLL TROLL TROLL TROLL TROLL TROLL TROLL'

'There are other potential sources of renewable energy besides wind and solar.'

Lol ILN... good try kid.
loowkey (132 D)

Genetic engineering is the answer.
We simply shrink ourselves a one foot height, we would cut our energy consumption by thousands of percentages.
ILN (100 D)
22 Nov 13 UTC
If we can genetically modify some bacteria or algae to suck CO2 out of the atmosphere, and then deposit it, where it is collected by humans and buried forever underground, fossil fuels is the way to go.

And Bo, my apologies, its fusion, you have momentarily redeemed yourself...

Open Letter to an Idiot Co-Worker
[rant] Dear idiot co-worker: When you say, "I'll be in around mid-day," most normal people assume that means before 1:00. It most certainly does not mean 3:45. Your co-workers do not enjoy sitting on their thumbs waiting for the document you promised them just so you can sit around having coffee in your jammies til 11:15 then enjoy a two-martini lunch. Sincerely, Hecks. [/rant]
