We're playing our first game, and a player left. Can anything be done to speed up turns since he ain't logging in? When will he dissapear as a player, when all his provinces are conquered at the end of Autumn? How many votes for Draw/Cancel are requiered? Anything else I should know on the situation? Thanks in advance, guys!
The login page on vdiplomacy says to enter your webdeplomacy usrnm and pswd, but then it says my account does not exist. Yet, I see names that I recognize on that forum.

There is a Tournament about to start on vdiplomacy.net called the whittle down tournament which needs players! The basic format is that the tourney starts on the site's largest map and players get eliminated from each round and the survivors pass to smaller and smaller maps. Serious Diplomacy Question- How nice should you be to your allies?
I am a relatively new player to Diplomacy, and often engage in (obviously) diplomacy with other players. However, I seem to find myself being to nice to my supposed allies. When dealing with allies, how nice is too nice? Thanks.
Hey, I'm having trouble getting the last few games together. I apologize to those whose games are being constantly postponed. I need two volunteers minimum to keep the tournament going. It's only 1 or 2 games folks, can anyone step up?
I've been playing here for about 2 years, but started playing at playdiplomacy about a month ago, and I have to say, they have a better interface, and a community who can actually hold an intelligent discussion. First two years were horrible as I had Austria take Venice and let Turkey walk into quite a few centers and France grow exponentially. Great team work with Russia to turn the the tide against Turkey- we did a great job intuiting and supporting each others moves. Persistent chaos in the west and managing to pop a few units past the Russian line sealed the deal for me. Really enjoyed imprisoning 3 Russian armies in Turkey.
gg Barn,couldn't have done anything against GER/ENG seeking for French blood only. Was hoping England would take the side of the winner in the German/French war but I think he made a mistake by choosing Germany. FRA/ENG could have prevented Italian solo according to me.
Nice one. Got stucked in the north - although I played STP-FIN in the first move, Germany didn´t let me into SWE. All in all the German was pretty annoying, taking WAR and not letting me to get past 7 centres at any time. On the contrary in the south it was rather good with a textbook cooperation with Italy which erased Turkey. After Italy stabbed me one turn earlier than I wanted to stab him (nice one Barn! :-) it was pretty much only a fight for survival. At the end, however, I didn´t understand the constatnt fighting in the west, given the overall vote for a draw. Maybe we could have prevented the solo, had E and F stopped fighting. Altogether, congrats to Barn - he deserved it!
textbook cooperation with Italy- I agree. I don't think we read the board and each others likely moves perfectly. I don't think we made one erroneous support (at least before I stabbed you ;) ) which is pretty amazing for legit play in a gb.
I believe it was too late to prevent that solo,I knew by his moves England was a newbie and he wasn't understand anything what I was doing and that I wasn't against him.On the other side I was surprised when I saw The Chech was Germany - very bad strategy getting into the conflict with Russia and France at the same time.
Barn: Spring 1905 I think supported yours GRE-BUL which you didn´t ordered. But otherwise we were really good in the mutual cooperation. I am lookong forwards to playing you again soon.
What does everybody think of Dutch policies? Saw some talk show about it and even though it was in dutch (which I am) I still could understand "Yes minister" better...

I think it would be a good idea to allow unrated games. After all, not all Chess games are ELO-rated for example. A simple way to do it would be to make a new variant, say "Classic-unrated". Then, adjust the GR program so that it excludes all games of that variant.
