Right the first time, Mr. President. Anyway, bones I have to pick: justforfun, playing as Austria, it would have been nice had you stuck around and actually, you know, played the game. Same thing goes for you, original Italy and second Italy, GiveItATry. And you as well, Hooverhurdle, playing Germany. xixero, the France in our terrible game, why would you sign up if you had no intention of even bothering to show up. Nigeebaby, as England, when it's fairly likely Turkey's going to win, and it's winner take all, why on earth are you moving on Norway after I've vacated to throw everything at the Turk? What is your pickup there? Your loss looks slightly more impressive? Turkey, you played well, though, in this utter shitfest of a shitfest.
Anyway, strategy wise, I wanted to try something new with Russia. I've opened overwhelming to the south, and strong to the north, but never overwhelming to the north. So, I decided I wanted Scandinavia early, and opened War-Liv, Mos-St.P, and hoped that Austria and Turkey would get into a brawl in the south, and that Germany wouldn't freak out so much as to keep me from Sweden in the north. I actually had a fairly nice board setup after S01. Germany went to Holland from Kiel, not Denmark, and Austria stayed out of Galicia. If France had shown up, I think I could have got away with the strategy. My goal was to take Norway with an army, hope England recognized a fait accompli and turned his attention south in 02, inculding convoying his army out, and hope that Germany wouldn't turn on me until '03, at which point I could build in warsaw and start convoying an army out of Scandinavia to Livonia. Unfortunately, Austria opened to Rumania, not Serbia, from Bud, and thus I could never do anything with Turkey in the south except butt heads in the Black Sea until such time as he took it from me and worked his way into Sevastopol.
