Newbie looking for my game...
Sorry if this is obvious, but nothing in FAQs helped. I joined a game yesterday, my points went down from 100 to 75 (and still at that level) indicating that I joined.... but nothing shows up under "my games". How do I find the game I joined? Am I missing a step?

ANON Games...Revealing Names...
Would it be considered cheating, meta-gaming, to reveal the identity of someone in a game that is supposed to be Anonymous? It happened *twice* in an "anonymous" game. sigh....

Beatles White Album
Thoroughly enjoying it at this moment...reminiscing about the various states of mind I encountered myself in low those many years ago in college when I discovered this album. That was the time in my life were I enjoyed the vision of purple jellyfish dropping their tendrils out of the sky upon an unsuspecting humanity. Ahhh....good times...

Trivia thread!
An idea inspired by the Who am I? game thread, only much simpler. Answer a trivia question. If you get it right, you get to ask the next one.
Don't cheat by googling answers please. That ruins it.

The Revolution and the Constitution Were Government Bailouts
American Historian Woody Holton has argued that the Revolution and Constitution themselves were bailouts, distinctly against conservative fantasies about the founding fathers.

Before the bailout of the banks and the car companies and the rest, Historian Woody Holton showed that indeed both the Revolution and the Constitution themselves were what we called bailouts. The Revolution in Virginia was the solution of a ruling class that had backed itself into a corner. The land owning classes of Virginia had spent their fortunes on land speculation, land speculation that was opposed by Native Americans, In addition, they had invested in slaves, Slaves whose values continued to drop as Scottish merchants delivered more to the colonies. Meanwhile Tabacco's price was chronically falling as other markets opened up. As a result these landholders were chronically in debt, and their only solution was to limit the number of slaves, try to raise the price of tabacco, and to secure lands as well. They tried several things throughout the 70s, they withheld exports to try to drive up tabacco prices, they boycotted imports to do the same with slaves, and closed the courts so no one could be held accountable for their debt. However, these measures hurt the lower classes who demanded an end to them with jailbreaks, riots etc. With a need to regain authority, especially with Lord Dunmore offering to free slaves, and small folk committing crimes in defiance to the landholding class, the Virginians called for Independence, the only measure that would allow freedom from British controll and allow them to reopen courts without debtors being held accountable. Bailout #1.

Later, the Revolution created a union of states that was tentative at best. Federal Government power was nearly zilch. This would be fine and dandy if it weren't for the mountain of debt that the continental congress and the states had racked up. The States had issued warbonds to those who supported the fighting, with promises of payment in the future. Well the future had come, and some of the states were on the brink of defaulting. Meanwhile in states such as Rhode Island, grassroots movements were springing up which demanded the states default. You see, while the masses had once been creditors to the state; they had received pay for military service often in state bonds, or continental bonds and notes, most of the lower classes had sold their debt to speculators, including, among others, Abigail Adams. These speculators held mountains of debt, debt that could not be repaid if the states defaulted or the Federal Government had no means to pay. As a result a major impetus toward the continental congress, and indeed one of the major contributions of the base constitution, was consolidating all state debts into Federal debt, and giving the Federal government the power to raise funds to service the debts. Bailout #2

So, when you remove the rose tinted glasses, and move beyond the historical picture books, you can see that, fortunately or not, "Bailouts" are as American as the Constitution and the Revolution. Tell your nearest tea party member.

Oh, and doesn't know how to spell "tobacco". Hint it's spelled how I spelled it. What you spelled is closer to tabasco (as in the hot sauce).

Argument is War
Left wing statists Lakoff and Johnson made the statement that "Argument is War" in their book Metaphors we live by. They were exactly right and the war has been raging between statists and realists long before the book was published.

After nearly 3.5 years, I finally finished 100 games!
I like how I still have single digit survives, since survives are my least favorite, they mean I gave up a solo while alive. I was kind of hoping for 50 draws and 25 wins, along with the 16 defeats and 9 survives, then D = 2w, w = d + s, D = w + d + s, and d ~= 2s, but suppose I won't complain. ;-)

Yogurtini and BTO Yogurt are two examples of the marketplace responding to idiotic government attempts to legislate a standard of living which only succeeds in diminishing the number of jobs and increasing unemployment.
