Newbie looking for my game...
Sorry if this is obvious, but nothing in FAQs helped. I joined a game yesterday, my points went down from 100 to 75 (and still at that level) indicating that I joined.... but nothing shows up under "my games". How do I find the game I joined? Am I missing a step?

Beatles White Album
Thoroughly enjoying it at this moment...reminiscing about the various states of mind I encountered myself in low those many years ago in college when I discovered this album. That was the time in my life were I enjoyed the vision of purple jellyfish dropping their tendrils out of the sky upon an unsuspecting humanity. Ahhh....good times...

Argument is War
Left wing statists Lakoff and Johnson made the statement that "Argument is War" in their book Metaphors we live by. They were exactly right and the war has been raging between statists and realists long before the book was published.
wtf are you even talking about
Tettleton's Chew (0 DX)
01 Aug 11 UTC
A huge battle in that war is the battle over the exploding amount of wealth redistribution occurring in the United States.

The White House OMB document at this link http://www.whitehouse.gov/sites/default/files/omb/budget/fy2012/assets/hist.pdf

Shows that over 66% of the Federal Budget is currently Payments To Individuals.
Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Welfare, Food Stamps, Unemployment, Housing subsidies, and student assistance now make up just short of two-thirds of the Federal Budget.

Since just short of half of Americans don't even pay income tax anymore and two-thirds of the taxes that do come in redistributed as payments to individuals.

Now that the debt is the 800 Trillion pound elephant in the room the "War" is truly on because Left Wing Statists in the United States have tethered themselves to an economic model of government that is unsustainable and without that model they will completely disappear at the end of the "War."

What will the United States look like when the Left Wing Statists are gone.
Healthier, more prosperous, better educated, long lived and without a doubt more peaceful.

Ok then. From the perspective of a poor american who relies on food stamps to feed their family, what would you advise them to do in your brave new world where there is no such assistance? Presumably you'd be happy for them to starve to death?
King Atom (100 D)
01 Aug 11 UTC
Hey, I have an idea! Let's all argue about this.
Well, I do agree that how wealth is redistributed is a huge issue in America. In our current post-New Deal era of deregulation, privatized profit and socialized risk, ushered in under the rubric of the ideology Mr. Chew presents as good and necessary for the healthy functioning of the Republic, wealth has streamed to the wealthy while empoverishing the other 95% of our society relatively.

"Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?"-Matthew 7:16

95% of our society is impoverished?
The stupid stuff you see posted by total idiots is amazing.

Tettleton's Chew (0 DX)

Stevelers posts his own idiocy.

20% of 50% Americans will die to make the economy healthy again.

You ever have to fire someone TBroad.
Someone who doesn't earn the money you are paying them.
Someone who is lazy, not ambitious, unintelligent, or unmotivated?
I have. I don't feel one way or the other about it.
They are over 18 and they are adult.
There are people all over the world who would literally kill to live in this country and have their freedom and opportunity.
I fire them like the waste of time that they are.
Some approach to muting idiots.
Why waste the time reading the ramblings of totally stupid people.
Stevelers (3084 D(G))

"66% of the Federal Budget is currently Payments To Individuals.
Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Welfare, Food Stamps, Unemployment, Housing subsidies"

I take it you think that number should be less than 66%, yeah? Any decrease in that number will undoubtedly lead to millions of Americans dying, won't it? I'm just curious as to how many poor Americans dying it would take to set this economy right, so that billionaires may finally become, after so much hard work, multi-billionaires.
TBroadley (178 D)
01 Aug 11 UTC
TC, if you assume the majority of your opponents on this forum are "totally stupid people", you're just fortifying your own opinions by listening to only those who agree with you. I remember that a while ago you mentioned an economist whose arguments you had to study hard before you could rebut them. Why don't you take the same approach to your opponents here?
Stevelers (3084 D(G))
01 Aug 11 UTC
Broadley is right.. I know I'll never be able to match your intelligence and wit, Tett, but the least you could do for me is to hear my side of the story, read thoughtfully, and give me advice in regards to how my worldview is wrong, rather than just insulting me for disagreeing with you.
You can match his intelligence and wit. The idiot just regurgitates information with little understanding. It is painfully obvious when he strays into my field. He makes patently false statements like "The Continental Army and Militia were the same thing," "FDR Never tried to balance the budget," The Transcontinental Railroad got no government assistance," etc. all of which are simply false. If you catch him he just starts throwing insults and citing unrelated books. He has a highly inflated opinion of his own intelligence (at least in writing, probably not in real life) and a need to prove he's the smartest guy in the room.

Stevelers,
I remember idiots like you saying pestilence and famine would follow Welfare reform when Clinton signed it.
What kind of adult is so ignorant as to say that millions will die if the United States spends less than 66% of its budget on social programs. MILLIONS? Are you just totally nuts and detached from reality.

You are just a mentally helpless individual.
Tettleton's Chew (0 DX)
02 Aug 11 UTC
TC Broad, you seem to doubt your own ability to identify idiots.
Either you are young or stupid yourself.
When you get to be my age stupidity sticks out like a sore thumb.
You've known people for decades and you've seen the ones who are stupid slower but surely screw their lives up, and it is entirely their own fault.
My next door I knew for a decade took out a second mortgage and lost her home during the mortgage meltdown because she was stupid.
I've seen it happen all my life.
I treasure running across people who are not stupid and I spend as much time around them as I can.
How do I know I'm right? My kids aren't drug addicts. They finished school. They have money in the bank. They go to work every day. They don't think anyone owes them anything. They put family first above everything. I'm not in debt. I pay less for my home than people pay for two bedroom apartments because I wasn't stupid with my money. I have good health. I have insurance on everyone in my family and on everything I own.

So anyone I run across that doesn't realize that is the way life works is one stupid moron to me because that is the way life works. I simply don't have time for stupid people.
TBroadley (178 D)
02 Aug 11 UTC
Maybe I just want to hear new opinions, TC, instead of shutting them out the way you seem to do. I want to expand my knowledge of the world in a way you appear to be too impatient for. And frankly, I don't see how one's worldview is necessarily correlated with success. Many liberals are just as successful as you are.
Stevelers (3084 D(G))
02 Aug 11 UTC
So.. You're saying taking away food stamps and health care won't cause people to die from hunger or illness? I know, as you say, I'm "mentally helpless", so explain it to me, if you please.
Hugo_Stiglitz (100 D)
02 Aug 11 UTC
Just a little tip to TC, referring to everyone who disagrees with you as an "idiot" or "mentally helpless" isn't how you strengthen your argument, you do that through presenting facts and logically explaining how they support your position.
Trying to undermine people makes you appear immature, arrogant and self-centered, thereby weakening your position.

Try being respectful to other people, it might work out for you.
Tettleton's Chew (0 DX)

Hugo, anyone who posts in regards to cutting social programs

"Any decrease in that number will undoubtedly lead to millions of Americans dying,"

and also "What percentage of Americans would you allow to die in order to make the American economy healthy again? Bottom 20%? Bottom 50%?

Is an idiot by definition.

There happen to be a high percentage of idiots posting on these boards.

Idiots who have never been self-employed, created a business, hired or fired anyone talking about business like they know it like the back of their hand.

Those are also total idiots.

People who post that the Soviet Union wasn't commununist.

Total idiots.

Now as far as what idiots think of me I don't give it a passing thought. What person with any intelligence would?
As far as worrying about what someone posts about me on a message board I could care less.

Now as far as destroying corrupt idiotic ideas that have no basis in fact on a message board I see every day when I plan. I'll do that until the cows come home.
Stupid, idiotic, indefensible nonsense should never go unchallenged when you see it.
If you don't challenge then idiots start to think its true.
You can see the results of that in numerous posts all over these boards.
Tettleton's Chew (0 DX)
02 Aug 11 UTC
Stevelers,

Where did anyone post to end "food stamps" you idiot?
Where did anyone post to end "health care" you idiot, whatever you mean by the vague all encompassing phrase. I guess only an idiot like you would know.

No Stevelers, tell me how you are going to keep paying for all of this in perpetuity you idiot.
We have a trillion dollar annual deficit, a permanent deficit over $15 Trillion, and an economy that is going into a double-dip recession and is hemorrhaging jobs.
I guess an idiot like you thinks you will pull money out of your ass and listen to John Lennon sing "all we need is love."

How pathetic.
Tettleton's Chew (0 DX)

TB, I guess you are young because what I've read on this board I've heard before.
Obviously you haven't. To each his own.
You can mute whoever you want and spend your time anyway you like.
Just don't use any tax money and be a freeloader will you.
You sound like you have a brain so don't be a burden on society.
You have a responsibility not to be a burden on society if someone hasn't explained that common sense concept to you yet.
Hugo_Stiglitz (100 D)
02 Aug 11 UTC
Ah, so your response is:
"No, people who disagree do not deserve any respect. My opinion is the right opinion, and anyone who believes otherwise is a lesser human being of deficient mental capability. I'm going to continue agitating the community by insulting it, refusing to listen to counter-arguments, stroking my own ego and being an overall jackass."

That about it?
You disgust me
Tettleton's Chew (0 DX)

I like how I still have single digit survives, since survives are my least favorite, they mean I gave up a solo while alive. I was kind of hoping for 50 draws and 25 wins, along with the 16 defeats and 9 survives, then D = 2w, w = d + s, D = w + d + s, and d ~= 2s, but suppose I won't complain. ;-)
