Newbie looking for my game...
Sorry if this is obvious, but nothing in FAQs helped. I joined a game yesterday, my points went down from 100 to 75 (and still at that level) indicating that I joined.... but nothing shows up under "my games". How do I find the game I joined? Am I missing a step?

ANON Games...Revealing Names...
Would it be considered cheating, meta-gaming, to reveal the identity of someone in a game that is supposed to be Anonymous? It happened *twice* in an "anonymous" game. sigh....

Beatles White Album
Thoroughly enjoying it at this moment...reminiscing about the various states of mind I encountered myself in low those many years ago in college when I discovered this album. That was the time in my life were I enjoyed the vision of purple jellyfish dropping their tendrils out of the sky upon an unsuspecting humanity. Ahhh....good times...

Trivia thread!
An idea inspired by the Who am I? game thread, only much simpler. Answer a trivia question. If you get it right, you get to ask the next one.
Don't cheat by googling answers please. That ruins it.

The Revolution and the Constitution Were Government Bailouts
American Historian Woody Holton has argued that the Revolution and Constitution themselves were bailouts, distinctly against conservative fantasies about the founding fathers.

Argument is War
Left wing statists Lakoff and Johnson made the statement that "Argument is War" in their book Metaphors we live by. They were exactly right and the war has been raging between statists and realists long before the book was published.

undefeated
I'm totally undefeated... how many of you suckers can claim that? LOL anticipating a big slice of humble pie when you gurus teach me a lesson.
After having played 1 game, being ndefeated is not that hard.

Your game with Germany was good, but not that good. France should have thrown the win to Austria. At the critical moment, i.e. right after your stab, he failed to defend himself (did I see NMRs?). That's what gave you the win, otherwise it would have been strong second.

Your second game, with Turkey, is nothing to brag about. Italy and Austria CD. You form a juggernaut (wow, what a killer plan!), and get stopped by a WT. France NMRs so you can break his stalemate line. I cannot say much more (the game is still ongoing).

why not just play the 6 of us who have commented here :) that would be a fun game I do believe, especially since smilie here never got that one game off the ground ;)
Congrats, you won a game marred by a crucial and completely incomprehensible CD.
Yellowjacket (835 D(B))

lol OK I deserved all that. Apologies, the "sucker" thing was meant as sarcastic, I was just excited, and thought a win on 1st try is likely not too common... I know I'm gonna get handed badly if/when I get to the upper echelon of skill here. Please-not-Turkey as Austria played really really well, and almost won with a much steeper slope than I had; he deserves much much credit.

Still if you experienced guys who did check out in enough depth my moves, do you have any constructive criticisms? I feel I'm too conservative so far, do you agree? Would you have done much differently, strategically or tactically?

@bas: yeah France really quit at an ideal time, and he missed a LOT of opportunities to really stick it to me, even before he quit (French Fleet in Scandinavia would have been ruinous). But lets be serious, even if he stayed that game was likely mine (barring throw to Austria immediately). And I know the other (active) game I've been *very* lucky from the beginning... it was a good game to start on :)

@Eden thats part of the game too, right? Frustration/quit is a factor... maybe not at YOUR skill level though :)

I don't think that the OP is being at all serious...
Yellowjacket (835 D(B))
31 Jul 11 UTC
Squirrel: I had to take Spain that turn to ensure Austria couldn't stalemate me (assuming France didn't drop).

Steve: I'm serious about everything except how great I am... that part is a joke.

I don't think he was being serious either, but neither was I. Still, this tall poppy needs to be cut down to size! :-P
But good luck with maintaining the winning streak :-)

Anyone else think that switzerland should be a moveable space? If someone were to fuss about it making a hole slew of opening moves it could be given a neutral army. Sound good sound bad?
Yellowjacket (835 D(B))
31 Jul 11 UTC
Sounds overly complicated that it gets its own army as a neutral...
acmac10 (120 D(B))
31 Jul 11 UTC
Yellowjacket: It's not that complicated. It's an army that does nothing but hold. If it is dislodged, it automatically disbands. This is common in other variants, and they are viewable and playable on VDiplomacy.
Yellowjacket (835 D(B))
31 Jul 11 UTC
right, but it sounds like The Prussian thinks this should be standard. I have no problem with any variants, so long as they stay variants... I'm not so sure it would be the best for standard. Could be wrong though.
Yellowjacket (835 D(B))

hey wait a minute, this thread is about how awesome I am, not about switzerland!

quite the contrary, it is about how awesome swiss chocolate is, and again, i think you should play with some of the people in this thread, i'm not out to try and crush your success. I feel that it would be a good chance for you to really show us how good swiss chocolate is

After nearly 3.5 years, I finally finished 100 games!
I like how I still have single digit survives, since survives are my least favorite, they mean I gave up a solo while alive. I was kind of hoping for 50 draws and 25 wins, along with the 16 defeats and 9 survives, then D = 2w, w = d + s, D = w + d + s, and d ~= 2s, but suppose I won't complain. ;-)

Unemployment caused by Government
Yogurtini and BTO Yogurt are two examples of the marketplace responding to idiotic government attempts to legislate a standard of living which only succeeds in diminishing the number of jobs and increasing unemployment.
