Newbie looking for my game...
Sorry if this is obvious, but nothing in FAQs helped. I joined a game yesterday, my points went down from 100 to 75 (and still at that level) indicating that I joined.... but nothing shows up under "my games". How do I find the game I joined? Am I missing a step?

White House Hypocrisy...
They get the debt deal....and before the ink is dry, Obama is out giving his victory speech, proclaiming that the battle is not over, that everyone must sacrifice....Higher taxes are on the way. Kind of make a dude want to puke.

Question for players

This is mainly out of curiousity. I guess this would pertain more to newer players but I would like other input as well. When playing a non-anon game, what scares you more? The amount of points a player has or looking at their record? We all know that bias solely based on names or points happen, so I was wondering what causes it to happen? And my question isnt worded as well as it could be, so if anyone wants clarification, I can try my best to help

What scares me the most is seeing six players with 100 D.

I know that I am no longer a new player, but I remember that I was much more afraid of points. It was intimidating, and I honestly didn't even bother to look at records, or think much of them

I guess because I don't have a bias against anyone, none of that scares me. Now, seeing certain players will keep me on my toes because I know they are good and sneaky and seeing other players allows me to be sneaky because I know I can provoke a reaction, but that's no different than when playing with anyone you know. But if I don't know your style and never played you, you don't scare me for any reason. You're just another variable to be solved in the equation and I will solve you soon enough.

At this point in my dip career I'm must more afraid of folks with a 25% (or 42 :-)) win percentage than a bunch of points. But if they have both, I tread cautiously.
SacredDigits (102 D)

I'm lazy, so I don't look at records, and any point total under 1,000 doesn't really bother me either.

The scariest are people that I've seen on the forums and never played before, which is why I love joining non-anon games with them.

I'm not really a newer player but when I joined the TMG Master's 2 years ago I was. I was much more intimidated by players like MadMarx and others with high point counts then players with awesome stats, not that MM has bad stats. Since then djbent is the only player I am overly concerned to play with, lol. I am much more concerned playing with a bunch of 100 D noobs then pros. Now I enjoy a good challenge and in a game with all pros I don't worry about one more then the others.
What scares me the most in a non-anon game is sending a lengthy message to a neighbor, only to get this in reply:

"Wow! You <have >3000 D/have >50 wins/are top-5 GR>!"
SacredDigits (102 D)

What scared me more, PE, is when someone in a semi-anon game called me out as to who I was by analyzing previous games played.

And they were dead on.

I had never seen this dude before.
Who was that, I wonder?

I'm scared of people that haven't finished a game yet...
(slightly hypocritical seeing as I just joined a couple months ago but still...)

What I don't like to see is several people with poor GR's and they play in a lot of games together and ally all the time. It's not really scary but definitely something I take strong note in. After you get high up in GR, you play with a lot of the same people over and over again.

Anon games are a bit nerve-wracking for me because I'm used to being able to see the profile of the other players and the time stamps on when they are on/off or how long they have been logged off. I use that information so much it sort of throws me off when I don't see it.

Seeing a bunch of people with poor records doesn't scare me either and I have yet to have someone target me because of my D points or GR.

ANON Games...Revealing Names...
Would it be considered cheating, meta-gaming, to reveal the identity of someone in a game that is supposed to be Anonymous? It happened *twice* in an "anonymous" game. sigh....

Beatles White Album
Thoroughly enjoying it at this moment...reminiscing about the various states of mind I encountered myself in low those many years ago in college when I discovered this album. That was the time in my life were I enjoyed the vision of purple jellyfish dropping their tendrils out of the sky upon an unsuspecting humanity. Ahhh....good times...

Trivia thread!
An idea inspired by the Who am I? game thread, only much simpler. Answer a trivia question. If you get it right, you get to ask the next one.
Don't cheat by googling answers please. That ruins it.

American Historian Woody Holton has argued that the Revolution and Constitution themselves were bailouts, distinctly against conservative fantasies about the founding fathers.

Argument is War
Left wing statists Lakoff and Johnson made the statement that "Argument is War" in their book Metaphors we live by. They were exactly right and the war has been raging between statists and realists long before the book was published.

After nearly 3.5 years, I finally finished 100 games!
I like how I still have single digit survives, since survives are my least favorite, they mean I gave up a solo while alive. I was kind of hoping for 50 draws and 25 wins, along with the 16 defeats and 9 survives, then D = 2w, w = d + s, D = w + d + s, and d ~= 2s, but suppose I won't complain. ;-)

Unemployment caused by Government
Yogurtini and BTO Yogurt are two examples of the marketplace responding to idiotic government attempts to legislate a standard of living which only succeeds in diminishing the number of jobs and increasing unemployment.
