it just dawned on me(duh) that if you play gunboat non-anon you can still send PM's to people...going against the actual rules---Is there a way to stop this?

Bug check?
Well, I'm not sure what happened (although I'm guessing some save error so it wont' show up in any logs) but I somehow ended up with an army in Naples rather than the fleet that I thought I'd ordered.

This professor doesn't sound like the smartest tool in the box.... and he thinks Obama is a socialist, sounds like a by-product of a failing capitalist education system

The Golden Age of Diplomacy
Does anyone else find reading Sharp's "The Game of Diplomacy" really depressing? The level of dedication and analysis that he presents in the book would never be found today. Does anyone even talk about diplomacy theory anymore, or are we just left to reading relics of the past?

Homework this week
Your homework this week is to speak to an octogenarian. We won't have them for very much longer and so I think it's important for young people to meet these guys.

Hippies aren't quite the same. They're uptight in a way that the people older than them weren't.

Civil disobedience has never been easier or nerdier.

Never forget Aaron Swartz, Sandgoose!

Dear Mr. Government Man...can you please add me to your list of people to focus on as I put my name on this list and ad my advertising banner to my web page...

Yeah...that's what we need...MORE banner ads!!! That'll help!

I'm shocked that there isn't a massive "Donate Here" button right at the top....

@Jamie

I don't have anything specific against uncivil disobedience. We're talking about the group of people who are trying to block your access to health care, breathable air, education, and meaningful employment.

Personally, I feel that young people in Europe enjoy superior living standards precisely *because* they are so diligent about looting and burning shit when the powers that be attempt to marginalize them.

A word of caution though - just look at how bad blacks were treated after they famously rioted back during the heyday of the civil rights movement.
Oops, no wait. That's how they ended segregation and got the right to vote.

"*because* they are so diligent about looting and burning shit when the powers that be attempt to marginalize them. "

Or when the powers that be threaten to cut them off from the welfare state that is bankrupt due to being run on borrowed money.

Who did the state borrow that money from, dirge?

What state? Greece?
dirge (768 D(B))
14 Jan 14 UTC
I don't really know Jamiet. I suppose the money was borrowed from China and now the Germans bailed them out with German tax revenue. But god forbid we "marginalize" the greek youth.

Several things about Aaron Swartz stick my craw.

1) Imagine you worked on a oil painting for three years and M. Swartz breaks into your house and takes it to give to throw in the street and he tells you, don't worry, I'm not a burglar, I'm a Hactivist. Then he rapes you. This is basically what he did to scholars and academics.

2) He should have had a better lawyer, but that's his problem, not mine.

3) So what if he help create reddit. If you ask me, that was a crime in and of itself.

4) Why do I have to see his picture everywhere just because he was a coward who couldn't live with himself. F him. If he wasn't good enough to go on living we should just forget about him. There are far too many people anyway.

no disrespect intended.

I never said I didn't like greece. I am just pointing out that country was using a doomed economic system of public welfare that was doomed to failure and i disagree with your action verb regarding youth being intentionally marginalized and their only way to better themselves is to throw petrol bomb and act like petulant children.

I love Greece.

Feature Idea
So, I play a lot of live games, and I make a lot of them. I would love an option that would let players make games where any NMR in the first year is an instant cancel. So, that way there's no situation where a Germany NMR's and England/France/Russia take advantage and go on to become monster powers.

How to deal with people taking advantage of CD
Well, yet again, we have a situation where a country solos because its neighbors go CD from the outset, everyone else is completely sporting about declaring a draw.

Perhaps some kind of ban on new games for a couple weeks or something for this kind of cheating?

The Foundation Series
I (at the suggestion of a forum member, who's name I forget but will hopefully identify themselves), just read the first three books in the foundation series by Isaac Asimov. After calibrating my block list by reading through a recent gun control debate thread, I'd like to ask forum dwellers for their take on this series, or at least the premise.
