KP hasn't been a good Test player for years, and he never had the patience to be great. He's a force in limited overs cricket, but that's it.

Do you mean sack him as captain or a player? He's a useful batsman when his head's in the right place, but he has had several major failings as a captain. I would be surprised if we don't have someone who can do at least as well and give Cookie the opportunity to focus on his batting for a while and returning to the player he can be.

This is the only test series Cook has lost as captain. He even beat India in India.

I'm not sure. There must be one or two who have experience of captaincy from the counties, or have shown a bit of promise.

The trouble with this defeat is that it was helped by a string of captaincy failures. There was a failure of preparation, a failure to lead by example, and a failure to motivate the team. I actually don't think he's all that bad tactically on the field, which is all you need when things are going well, but he lacks the full range of skills a captain needs.

Aside from that England captains traditionally suffer from poor run rates. Maybe it's time to try a bowler...

Im going to take Putin's side in this debate: this has been Cooks first bad series as captain. The guy did great in India as well as over the summer against the auddies. He deserves another chance.

He certainly does. He's a fine batsman and he has a decent record. But I think he could do with a break. He made a hash of the captaincy this series and trying to fill the holes in his skillset is hard enough at the best of times, but when you're struggling with form it's near impossible. Let him take a break from the responsibility and regain his form, and if he's still keen after that by all means give him another shot.
