There are four easy ways to prevent this.

1. Don't play non anon if you are concerned that this is a possibility. Be aware, though, that anon is just as likely to have cheaters, since you have no way of knowing who is what country. Personally, I think a non anon game is less conducive to cheating.

2. Report anyone who send you a PM.

3. Report any suspicious activity to [email protected]

4. Complain in the forum. This is usually the most effective way to get what you want.

I think I was seventh player to join and didn't realize what I was in till after the fact. There is nothing to report I just don't want to be in the game.

Yeah, there have been many times when I have been in a non-anon gunboat and people would work suspiciously well together. Always supporting and faithfully keeping a dmz, which I find quite unlikely that 2 people could pull this off without discussing their moves with one another.

I don't want to be typing this message, is there someone I can complain to who will make it all stop....

Rednas, according to your game history, you've never played in a non anon gunboat. In fact, you've never played a gunboat period. This may explain your suspicions of communication among the other players.

Wow, harsh. I have a group of friends whom I talk to all the time and discuss Diplomacy with. I have actually discussed this same occurrence with them before and I thought that it would be more credible if I stated that I had been in a game like this before. But, yes I, myself have not been in one of these games so 2WL is correct in calling me out on it and if forced to I will revoke my statement. Also, as to being a Libtard, I am not, I like to think of myself as a person who makes logical decisions as my political affiliation.

@ssorenn, if people wanted to cheat in a gunboat game, they could prearrange to join the same games and email each other outside of the webdip system.

To me, that seems more likely to be an issue than someone in a non-anon game deciding to risk sending a PM via webdip with the chance of being turned in and caught red handed.

But "more likely" doesn't mean the other one is necessarily "unlikely". Unfortunately some people get their jollies out of messing up other peoples fun or think that winning via cheating means they are smarter than people that win without cheating which of course is quite backwards.
