who's in ft lauderdale florida for the next two days and wants a drink on philcore?
I'll buy you a drink if I know who you are (from here, that is - obviously if I knew you IRL I'd just call you ) and want to meet up somewhere close to where I'm staying.

I'm a lot of fun to meet up with when I'm on vacation. Nigee can confirm.

NFL Pick 'em: Week 8--the Niners in London Town, Romo/Stafford, and the Pack Back on SNF
So I missed posting for Thursday Night Football...but if everyone didn't already have the PANTHERS over the Bucs anyway...get out. Elsewhere, the Niners look to crush, erm, stomp, erm, play the Jaguars in a highly competitive game in Wembley Stadium (who do we always give London the bad games?) Romo's Cowboys and Stafford's Lions both have something to prove, the Vikings have to find a QB, all this and more, so, Week 8--PICK 'EM!

I'm sorry if this has been brought up before, but this useful feature which prevents your browser from posting your messages repeatedly when you did not intend to do so is missing something; it is missing a semicolon.

Does everyone cheat in this game?
Once again, I am playing a game in which there are "anonymous" players, and no "in game" messaging, and there is obvious collaboration. Is this standard? Do players believe that because it only states "no in game" messaging that it is okay to have "out of game" messaging?

Why are these threads not being locked and the poster silenced as was?

Why?
Answer, same old moderator favoritism, same reason why PE wasn't silenced for getting around a locked thread and posting spam threads while others were.

Draugnar (0 DX)

The reason some were locked and others weren't is as JMO said, they had turned into real conversations. For instance, that stupid Vikings troll he posted resulted in a couple of good conversations that are still going on.

I won't speak to why he wasn't silenced. The mods can answer you if they so deam you worthy. I wouldn't respond, as it really is none of your business how they conduct business. You can choose to particpate on this site as is or go somewhere else. It isn't a democracy or even a representative republic on here. It is an oligarchy.
Everyone bitches about spam threads, and the state of the forum, but if certain people post them, everyone, including mods, bend over backwards trying to show that they are in on the joke. A moderator silenced me and two others the other day for a spam thread, while PE still had a spam thread on the first page, and went on about being "fair." Meanwhile if you went back one page you would see that jmo made his own spam thread. The silence was overturned two or three hours later because even another mod saw how ridiculous the double standard was.

Honestly if you want to improve the forum and stop these threads hold everyone accountable.

As much as I can be med on this board, I am.
Honestly I don't care if they respond or not. I'm here to point out this double standard which I'm sure you all will bend over backwards to say doesn't exist. This is PEs third (at least) spam thread in 2 days. I've made 1 in the last month.

Well, if you want an answer Santa, it's because I got quite a bit of flack for silencing those threads yesterday. Since apparently silencing a few blatantly trolling threads leaves the door open for complaints, I won't be silencing threads for anything other than cheating accusations, talking about ongoing games and murder porn.
Ok sounds good to me, as long as its known spam, whether is from the unsilencable president eden or from the forum riff raff is acceptable.
And bye you probably got more flak for silencing people than threads. Specifically from my corner for silencing some and letting others slide. I fully believe this thread should be closed as should other blatant troll threads like mine.
Mapu (362 D)
23 Oct 13 UTC
I honestly don't see how this is a spam thread. It seems like they will silence the threads that do a play on words to spawn many threads. This one doesn't seem similar to any current threads.
So hard to see how this is a troll thread. Keep trying Mapu you will get there.

this has been a very productive conversation about the board's moderating policies! thank you all for contributing to yet another quality thread on webDiplomacy
santa why do you hate freedom of speech dho :(
You all want to chastise some for trolling and spamming, but give some a free pass for continually doing so go right ahead

Again this is edens 3rd troll/spam thread in two days, at least recognize where the problem lies.
Bending over backwards indeed.

Santa seems to suffer from the delusion that troll=spam. Sorry Santa. Different words with different meanings. this is a troll thread but not a spam thread.
Mapu (362 D)

Draug hit it on the head. Nicely done.
So after all the bitching and moaning yesterday, you all concur that this thread, the Viking thread and the "yj let's make a porno" thread all are great additions to the board.

I wonder why the miss play "favorites". Maybe its because they're just normal people and normal people don't like assholes, and treat respectful people with respect. They didn't sign any kind of impartiality agreement or anything. They just volunteered their time to moderate a forum full of lunatics and whiners and Canadians. I, for one am glad they play favorites, because I wouldn't want to be held to the same standard as maple and Lando. I'm not a dick to the mod team, so I'm not treated like a dick by them. It's actually very simple.
Since when has lando been a dick, I must have completely missed that in my three years here on and off. And about not liking ass holes, while I gave certain mods shit in the past I had just defended the mod in question from draugnar when I was silenced. He ended up getting it afterwards though...
Mapu (362 D)
23 Oct 13 UTC
There's a big difference between "great additions to the board" and against site rules/muteable/silenceable [forgive the fake words]
ILN (100 D)

"And Canadians"
That supposed to be an insult??

*Turns back*
"Alright gents, time to launch those sorry notes at dem bastards"
So what we have decided here, as long as its not a play on words of another thread, no matter how much its a gratuitous troll, obvious spinoff spam (Viking thread), or just a shirking of a closed thread spam ("yj let's make a porno") it's fine.

Just don't play on the name...
why do the mods hate freedom of speech :( :(

Santa - as I read the first 5 replies to this thread, all I see YOU SPAMMING VIA BITCH-MODE. Maybe you should answer the question.

It is a legitimate hypothetical question in today's political climate, as there is a political wing in the United States that seems hell-bent on involving government in every decision in our lives -- which by a reasonable interpretation means a limitation of freedoms.

There is an opposite movement in modern politics that wants to see government minimized in our lives to any extent possible, with the cry that it is all about our freedom.

Those on the right rightly claim (by their interpretation) that there are many inthis country that are willing to exchange their personal freedoms for ....well, I guess to have a guaranteed place at the government tit.

So the question as posed in this thread is a fully legitimate question.

If you weren't such a douchebag, already drooling at the idea of a government tit to latch upon, you'd probably see the question for the value it poses. In all likelihood, you probably would willing relinquish you freedom if you understood it meant you could be a fuck up and not strive to succeed but still be guaranteed a cell phone, medical care and a big mac at the end of the week...because their are a lot of people like you out there that truly don't care about freedom, because in their mind they have already given it up.

So maybe instead of bitching about why this thread or that should be locked down, you should engage in a conversation fucktard.

Playing with 2 accounts
I am playing with some friends the online game of Modern Diplomacy.
One of our friends has stepped out of the game. He gave his password to another player/friend so that he can play for him. So this player is now playing under his own account and also on the other account of the friend who is already out of the game. Our question now is, is this allowed?
