Peter Allen and Gwynne Owen - hope you don't rest in peace.

In my opinion hanging was too good for them, maybe the electric chair would have been more fitting.

Need A Replacement For France
I'm looking for an active, respected player to partner with the remaining French player in our Dummy trial game (gameID=143236). If you aren't familiar with this game, each country has 2 players that equally share control (press, moves, etc). Let me know if you're interested.

Thanks for the game, everyone. Not particularly well played by myself; I made at least 2 serious blunders and probably should have been eliminated, but it was still great fun.

My only goal this game (other than winning, of course) was to take out Turkey. I knew that letting him live would be a disaster for me as Austria and, having failed miserably at taking him out, it came back to bite me hard.

My plan was to have Italy go after France while Russia and I went after Turkey. I was then going to stab Russia and figured Italy and I would ally with either England or Germany.

Italy didn't hit France as hard as I was hoping and my campaign with Turkey didn't go well. When Italy demanded a piece of Turkey ( objectively a reasonable request) I panicked, thinking I was about to be surrounded and made some pretty stupid moves.

I think France's cockiness is what ultimately saved me, as it wasn't too hard to convince the board to turn against him in the end.

All in all, though, a very fun game. It was particularly a pleasure to play with ssorenn. I look forward to more games in the future.

I appreciate the sentiment.
As far as the game went, I wanted to from beginning ally with Germany against England. And when Italy went off towards turkey I what looked like Lepanto, I thought Germany and I could do quite well together...then Germany started to move in on me, and I tried to talk my way out of the corner. Fortunately i did and Germany backed off just in time as Italy was trying to move west. I would have worked with Germany till the end if I had thought he would, but i always thought he was looking for the spot to stab. Then I got approached by both Italy and England at the same time, to stab Germany and make a run at solo....I took it and got some Austrian help....I was trying to talk Austria into a war with his ally turkey so I could concentrate in the north against Germany. I did get a little cocky with ayah striae and got reversed stabbed and ultimately sued for a draw.

Sigh ... here goes.

@Abge ... the fuck man, really? I would have hit France harder if it weren't for a dumb internet blackout NMR, but when France got piled on by E/G, it was clear that it was me and only me he'd defend against. Basically, he'd throw everything to them, so I backed out and gave him a fighting chance because it serves us all better if the west is fighting. Moreover, Turkey had NO FLEETS! Well, one, but in the Black Sea, so irrelevant to me. How, speaking objectively, could you justify turning down that opportunity?

Even after I went after Turkey, I was still worried because you were basically lending out your home centers to Russia and berating me in press for wanting my piece of Turkey (as you said, a perfectly reasonable offer, and I don't know why that made you panic - maybe if you hadn't given Vienna away you wouldn't have been so desperate for territory). Then comes word of this crazy attack (thank you Ogion) which at first I thought was too crazy to be true but after awhile it dawned on me that maybe it was too crazy to be false, so I defended, and with Ogion's help, we stopped the attack.

Again, objectively speaking - I gave up a shot at France, notoriously the one responsible for Italy's downfall, to go after Turkey, my second arch nemesis, and I - no, we - have excellent position on him. We have his home centers surrounded and there's nowhere he can go, plus Russia was preparing to fight with Germany. It's game on, absolutely perfect delayed lepanto. How lucky is that? We hit the jackpot. Still objectively speaking (loudly and in a higher pitch, but objectively nonetheless), why wouldn't you want to take that opportunity to tear Turkey to pieces since he'd been tormenting you the entire game at that point?

Regardless, Germany helps me stop your attack, and Russia heads you way. Good news, I've got my old buddy back, he's fighting Russia and I'm prepping to fight France. We were both going to come out in decent shape through all of this. NOPE! You'd rather put yourself in an incredibly perilous sandwich situation between Turkey and France, the two strongest nations on the board, who were undoubtedly talking three-way endgame with Germany. I don't get it. Frankly (no longer speaking objectively), I never will because I tried so hard to simply build a functional relationship with you and you kept on playing the most greedy game I think I've seen anyone play as Austria.

P.S. - Now back to objectively speaking... if Turkey hadn't misordered his Black Sea fleet back to Constantinople (and done whatever he tried to do with Albania - gamble gone wrong I guess), there's no way you would have survived his stab, and it all would have been over before France became a serious thread. All in all, I'm amazed how lucky you got to pull out of this one alive.

@Ogion … I think you played the best of anyone, but I think it was your three build 1901 that made the biggest difference. I wish we could have pulled off that stunt we planned against France because this game would have been a lot different on both sides of the board if that had worked out.

@Ssorenn … It was gracious of you to offer to keep me in the draw and I would have happily accepted if I'd known you were gonna get your ass whooped right after I was defeated. Oops o_O

Otherwise, it wasn't a good game from my personal perspective, but it definitely had some action and flair and I'd love to play with this group again.

Whew! that was, in a word, utterly nuts!

So, I decided from before Spring 1901 to ally with France for the duration, only to find out that Italy and England are baying for French blood. I had thought about the E/G alliance, but frankly, I always hate those because even when you succeed, England has nowhere to go except start pecking at the thousand mile border from Gascony to Livonia. So, I decided that the sensible thing to do was to play along in case France bit the dust fast so that I wouldn't be next. So, I sent my armies on a driving tour of Picardy and Burgundy. Told Ssoren this, but one can hardly blame him for not believing me. In any event, I was in fact looking forward to a nice relaxing march to shake hands with Turkey somewhere in the vicinity of Vienna, when Ssoren gave me all kinds of loving press about how he doesn't stab people... just before stabbing me! Well, from that point, France was the clear threat, and the solo was the unifying theme. The fact that Abgemacht couldn't make up his mind whose side he was on didn't help. In the end, we finally got our act together (I confess, I took Warsaw purely out of a fit of pique!) and came crashing across the finish line just before the wheels came completely off. I will say I was super shocked to see France stab Murray and put up a draw. No, Abge didn't see fit to let me in on that. I was pretty pleased and made one of those jokes that completely fails in text and managed to just about give ssoren a heart attack.

I think that that may have been the most rollicking game of drunked diplo ever!

Oh ogion, I would have run the board with you, if you did not pull that crap in the beginning. There was no reason to feign our alliance, Italy had gone east and the island was a sitting duck. It was an exciting game though, and look forward to many more with all of you....
To England. I am truly sorry as I would have kept you around, but when Abge said kill England or we all kill, you I had to.
