Going for all points or playing nice
When you are about to solo, do you typically try to rack up as many points as you can in the last turn, or be nice to your allies and get just enough SCs to solo?

NOT another gun control debate - really it isn't
Please do not turn this into a gun control thread, we have other threads for that. This thread only uses gun control as an example.

A clinic bombing a day keeps the baby killers away.
If you want the right to life for unborn babies, outspend the liberal baby murderers and yell louder than them. No real arguing tactics is going to work so let's stoop down to their level.

The ukelele is about the least pleasing instrument to listen to on the planet.

Maybe I'm just bitter, but my roommate last year bought and played the ukulele on a daily basis (so I heard the same song over and over and over again). This year I moved out and have 3 new roommates, and of course, one of them bought a ukulele....
ghug (5068 D(B))

I'm going to have to agree with Tom, it's a little pussy guitar with two fewer stings, a weak muted sound, and no ability to plug into a large speaker to add volume, distortion, and all sorts of fun effects. Why bother?

I play guitar too. Ukeleles are awesome for no reason other than girls love em - at least the ones I know. I don't care how much I hate it; that makes it cool...

I can think of many things girls like that also don't make you ears bleed. I don't know how many girls would prefer you to play a ukulele instead of a guitar... I bet the girls you know also like the sounds of nails on a chalkboard and children crying...

I'm sorry you have had bad experiences with ukeleles, Tom. I hope you can recover from your trauma soon.

It will be a long time before I recover....I still cry in the shower just thinking about it.

"Ukelele" is a Haiwaiian word that means "little jumping flea". Do you need to know anything more about it?
Anything with strings that makes music is worth possessing.

I went to see a Ukelele orchestra around two years. Ago. It's okay.... Not a huge fan of them. My sister bought one and it was cool for a bit, then you realise it's just an undersized guitar and they get annoying after a while. That's my opinion on them

The Bass Ukelele makes me laugh. It's just a guitar missing some strings...
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))

It only cost $30, so it can't be that great. Guitar does seem and feel better.
Draugnar (0 DX)
31 Jan 13 UTC
Ukeleles don't have as tight or resonant of strings and the sound board basically isn't. They are not nearly fo the same class, no matter how expensive, of even a student grade classical guitar. Mandolins are much better than ukes and lutes are much more resonant.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))

My guitar cost 20 times the amount of money, so my hope is that it would be 20 times better in terms of music.

I don't know how to play it, but it sure seem like I'm the only one 'round here who knows how to *spell* ukulele.

Congrats on getting yourself a new 'ukulele. Playing is pretty easy if you're a guitarist, it's just the top four strings capoed at the 5th fret.

The best thing about the uke is how light, compact, portable, and fun it is. Break it out at a summer BBQ, at the park, at the beach, or anywhere, and you'll have a blast.

If the re-entrant tuning is giving you the fidgets, you can always slap on a low G string to give it that bass note. But whatever you choose, playing is fun, despite what the haters say.

Playing it may be fun, but listening to it is painful. Kind of like Cricket...

@cteno .. that's why I call it a uke.

Opinions? As the thread subject suggests, I disagree with the vast majority of the points presented in the article. Very curious what you all think about this. The blog article comments are interesting as well, as is usually the case.
