"I am also tired of a primary education system that tosses little boys aside that have too much energy and sticks them with a label, and normally meds, that will affect them for the rest of their lives. I don't want my friends, my kids, or anyone else set upon due to anything that is beyond there control, be it gender, race, orientation, or anything else that one has thrust upon them by the randomness of the universe." +1
I know i'm only learning about the english education system at the moment, but they have this thing called inclusion which is pretty big. Oh and differentiation.
But that means all kids MUST be included in education, and separately, teachers must differentiate their lesson to support those with different needs. (whether that means pushing the bright kids with harder tasks, or supporting those with literacy issues)
I'm in not in primary education, but i think it is important that primary school boys (and it is fair to say girls get labeled as hyperactive aswell, but there are more boys) get supported in learning based on their needs.
Whether that means more time outside running around, or being given sufficient stimulation (ie multiple senses stimulated at the same time, the way humans are meant to experience reality, not just shutting out everything and reading one dry piece of text...)
They need to be engaged not medicated. Stimulated not excluded, and they need specific feedback to focus their attention. (games do feedback really well, and this may in part be something which ruins their attention spans, but we aren't taking enough advantage of this fact)
