Going for all points or playing nice
When you are about to solo, do you typically try to rack up as many points as you can in the last turn, or be nice to your allies and get just enough SCs to solo?

NOT another gun control debate - really it isn't
Please do not turn this into a gun control thread, we have other threads for that. This thread only uses gun control as an example.

If you want the right to life for unborn babies, outspend the liberal baby murderers and yell louder than them. No real arguing tactics is going to work so let's stoop down to their level.

What should I write my senior thesis on?
Interests include food security, sub-Saharan Africa, agriculture, nutrition, development aid, conflict, military intervention, human rights, climate change. I have a few ideas but I'd love to hear what you think a paper should be written on.

Opinions? As the thread subject suggests, I disagree with the vast majority of the points presented in the article. Very curious what you all think about this. The blog article comments are interesting as well, as is usually the case.

I would go back in time to tell Haytham Kenway, "Hey, you have a son that will grow up to be a cold-blooded killer that will kill you because a magic spirit diety told him to. Also there is this nice chap named George Washington, kill him! He will also ruin everything! God save Queen, errr King."

The problem with betting on sports is that the more you bet, the less the return will be.

For example right now the 49ers are the Favourite to win next weekends superbowl, so betting on the Ravens will give you a greater return on investment. Say I bet 1 trillion dollars on them. Since now the amount of money bet on the ravens is higher then the amount bet on the 49ers, the Ravens would now be considered the favourite to win.
Draugnar (0 DX)

That's why you do moderate bets and you do them at the last minute. Plus, when I do sports betting, I lock in a certain set of odds with my bookie and he has to pay those odds even if the line changes.
A way of making money nobody has suggested...

Distraught Father: "Help! Help! My son's just been killed!"
Time Machine Owner: "When? Where? How?"
DF: "He was run over by a car on Main Street an hour ago. If you save him I'll give you £10,000."
TMO: "Ok. Back in a tick."
<Strange noise like string being pulled through a small hole in a shoe box, repeated several times, fading ...>
<pause>
<Strange noise gets louder and louder, !clunk!>
Son: "Daddy"!
Father: "Oh thank you TMO. Here's your £10,000".
P.S. And I don't think it involves robbing anybody.

so what

The repercussions would include entire family lines being eliminated because one man mever met a specific woman. So obiwanobiwan may never have been born if his family dates back to the goldrush.
... and anyone who does go back in time might step on a butterfly.

I think there's a movie script somewhere in there about someone who goes back in time to save people who are about to die.

What if there was an ontario gold mine that was completely mined out by something like this?

@Mapu: There's a film about a woman who goes back to stop men who are going to murdering women. There's only one scene from this film that I remember (and this is just the gist of it) - she has a guy at gunpoint, he's still a teenager but he will murder a woman in several decades time. She's told him she has to kill him because of what he's going to do in the future and he (terrified) says "But I don't understand!" She replies "That's alright, only one of us needs to." <Bang!>

Definitely through oil. John D Rockefeller was the richest man of all time by controlling a monopoly first on oil for lamps and then for cars and ships. Buy up land you know has oil reserves and wait until the demand is strong enough for you to raise prices incredibly high.

I can't believe the betting dullness made it to PAGE 3. That's PROBABLY the least exciting way TO make money by using time MACHINE anyone could ever think of. Which is why it's OK for Draugnar TO suggest it because he's both OLD and an ENGINEER but everyone else should KNOW better because READING practical posts is the last thing I COME here for.

Also, Rockefeller was not the richest man of all time. Mansa Musa was. He singlehandedly caused a massive inflation in Eastern Mediterranean by casually strolling by.

If I could time travel I would go back 13 years and find out who let the dogs out.
I actually had an older version of myself travel back in time and give me this sports almanac containing the outcomes of every major sporting event for the next 50 years. Now at first I didn't believe him, but he turned on the radio and as the announcer proclaimed that one team was seconds away from winning, my other self predicted the other team was about to win in the final seconds. Turned out he was right and the book was legit. Unfortunately I got into a fight over a girl with some punk from school at a dance, somehow he managed to knock me out, and when I finally came to, the almanac was gone. So much for that plan.
I had an older version of myself travel back in time. I killed him and am enjoying my gold bars for the remainder of my thirty years.
