Get my points off Facebook
Hey all, I've been playing FB Dip for some time (oldschool phpDiplomacy), but have lost interest. Since I'm starting from scratch again here, I was wondering whether it's possible to transfer my thousand odd points from FB Dip to here? It's not the same community, but it is the same platform. Possible or no?

What has Curiosity found on Mars? - A poll (definitely not a +1 scam)
It's common knowledge that this forum is home to some of the most intelligent lifeforms in the Milky Way. To harness this incredible brainpower for the good of mankind, we should use the power of crowdsourcing to predict groundbreaking events in advance, so as to buy people time to prepare for them. By utilizing the best social networking invention ever, the +1, we can accurately conclude which opinion prevails in the webDip community.

The Importance of Being Diplomatic
With all the chest-pounding that goes on around here about who's a better player than who, it seems clear that some people place far too much emphasis on what goes on on this site, to the point of tying their performance to their overall feelings of self-worth.

In Honor of Thanksgiving Day
As a Mayflower descendant, I'm happy to post these two days' worth of thanksgiving verses from the New Living Translation: Old Testament today, and New Testament tomorrow. I wish you all a blessed Thanksgiving Day.
Mujus (1495 D(B))

Old Testament verses with the word "thanksgiving" in them:
1.Leviticus 7:12
If you present your peace offering as an expression of thanksgiving, the usual animal sacrifice must be accompanied by various kinds of bread made without yeast—thin cakes mixed with olive oil, wafers spread with oil, and cakes made of choice flour mixed with olive oil.

2.Leviticus 7:13
This peace offering of thanksgiving must also be accompanied by loaves of bread made with yeast.

3.Leviticus 7:15
The meat of the peace offering of thanksgiving must be eaten on the same day it is offered. None of it may be saved for the next morning.

4.Leviticus 22:29
When you bring a thanksgiving offering to the LORD, sacrifice it properly so you will be accepted.

5.1 Chronicles 16:7
[ David’s Song of Praise ] On that day David gave to Asaph and his fellow Levites this song of thanksgiving to the LORD:

6.2 Chronicles 29:31
Then Hezekiah declared, “Now that you have consecrated yourselves to the LORD, bring your sacrifices and thanksgiving offerings to the Temple of the LORD.” So the people brought their sacrifices and thanksgiving offerings, and all whose hearts were willing brought burnt offerings, too.

7.2 Chronicles 33:16
Then he restored the altar of the LORD and sacrificed peace offerings and thanksgiving offerings on it. He also encouraged the people of Judah to worship the LORD, the God of Israel.

8.Nehemiah 11:17
Also Mattaniah son of Mica, son of Zabdi, a descendant of Asaph, who led in thanksgiving and prayer. Also Bakbukiah, who was Mattaniah’s assistant, and Abda son of Shammua, son of Galal, son of Jeduthun.

9.Nehemiah 12:8
The Levites who returned with them were Jeshua, Binnui, Kadmiel, Sherebiah, Judah, and Mattaniah, who with his associates was in charge of the songs of thanksgiving.

10.Nehemiah 12:24
These were the family leaders of the Levites: Hashabiah, Sherebiah, Jeshua, Binnui, Kadmiel, and other associates, who stood opposite them during the ceremonies of praise and thanksgiving, one section responding to the other, as commanded by David, the man of God.

11.Nehemiah 12:27
[ Dedication of Jerusalem’s Wall ] For the dedication of the new wall of Jerusalem, the Levites throughout the land were asked to come to Jerusalem to assist in the ceremonies. They were to take part in the joyous occasion with their songs of thanksgiving and with the music of cymbals, harps, and lyres.

12.Nehemiah 12:46
The custom of having choir directors to lead the choirs in hymns of praise and thanksgiving to God began long ago in the days of David and Asaph.

13.Psalm 26:7

The LORD will comfort Israel again and have pity on her ruins. Her desert will blossom like Eden, her barren wilderness like the garden of the LORD. Joy and gladness will be found there. Songs of thanksgiving will fill the air.

22.Jeremiah 17:26
And from all around Jerusalem, from the towns of Judah and Benjamin, from the western foothills and the hill country and the Negev, the people will come with their burnt offerings and sacrifices. They will bring their grain offerings, frankincense, and thanksgiving offerings to the LORD’s Temple.

23.Jeremiah 30:19

His faithful love endures forever!’ For I will restore the prosperity of this land to what it was in the past, says the LORD.

25.Amos 4:5
Present your bread made with yeast as an offering of thanksgiving. Then give your extra voluntary offerings so you can brag about it everywhere! This is the kind of thing you Israelites love to do,” says the Sovereign LORD.

Surely knowing your ancesters have shaped you country for hundreds of years is something to be proud of? A branch of my ancestors were there for 1000s of years and did feck all.

Coincidently I was at the Mayflower Steps this morning in Plymouth and picked up some litter. Makes me feel like I'm doing my bit for trans-atlantic relations :p

The Mayflower Compact Society is high society in some places, but just being born into a family per se doesn't make me proud. Hey, we all have some surprises in our ancestry, if you really get into genealogy. My wife has found that one of her ancestors *apparently* had two families under two different names, his birth name and his adopted name... and that she and I are tenth cousins, four times removed, descended from the same Mayflower passenger. My great-great-great?-grandpa died in around 1891 but turned up again in the 1900 census--which we have some evidence to show was just a mistake. Fun times, huh???

Happy Thanksgiving! Today's Bible reading includes the New Testament verses with the word "thanksgiving" in them, from the New Living Translation.

26.Matthew 11:25
[ Jesus’ Prayer of Thanksgiving ] At that time Jesus prayed this prayer: “O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, thank you for hiding these things from those who think themselves wise and clever, and for revealing them to the childlike.

27.Luke 10:21
[ Jesus’ Prayer of Thanksgiving ] At that same time Jesus was filled with the joy of the Holy Spirit, and he said, “O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, thank you for hiding these things from those who think themselves wise and clever, and for revealing them to the childlike. Yes, Father, it pleased you to do it this way.

28.2 Corinthians 4:15
All of this is for your benefit. And as God’s grace reaches more and more people, there will be great thanksgiving, and God will receive more and more glory.

29.Philippians 1:3
[ Paul’s Thanksgiving and Prayer ] Every time I think of you, I give thanks to my God.

30.Colossians 1:3
[ Paul’s Thanksgiving and Prayer ] We always pray for you, and we give thanks to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

31.Philemon 1:4
[ Paul’s Thanksgiving and Prayer ] I always thank my God when I pray for you, Philemon,

32.Revelation 7:12
They sang, “Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and strength belong to our God forever and ever! Amen.”

So, as was mentioned in the Last Person to Post thread, my husband and I are looking to play a gunboat game together. Obviously there'd be no meta-gaming, but wanted you guys to be aware. So any takers..

In the game http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=104456, I am South Africa. I should have gotten three builds this spring. I had it set up to do a Fleet in San (antarctica), a fleet in South Africa, and a army in Namibia. The two fleets were built correctly, but the army was not built. I had the options for all three and I am positive I had it set up right, but only two were built. Please fix this.
