I liked Star Wars: Battlefront on the XBox. Pure combat and the space combat engine was top notch. Had they incorporated that combat engine in SWTOR, I would.have stayed.

The only RPG I can think of that has good combat is Borderlands.

Does it have space combat cause I'll put TSO up against all of them in space. And TSO ground isn't bad either.

The vehicle's in Star Wars Battlefront were excellent, one of the main reasons that it's one of my favorite games.

EVE's combat system sucked. To much "lock and let the computer fire". With STO you pick the target which locks the weapons on it but then you have to choose which weapon to fire when and keep you shields oriented for incoming fire, monitor energy levels, monitor the facing.of your vessel and firing arcs and all kinds of.other things. Weapons with 360° firing arcs are weak. The wider the arc the weaker the weapon. Some weapons also had slower recharge times like torpedoes and some.slow firing would still do better DPS do to their sheer amount of damage while others could punch holes through shields. You have front and rear weapons on some ships and so you can hit and run firing behimd you with all your shields to the rear while you turn and on and on. It was combat. EVE was strongest ship wins, but a good captain in STO can make all the difference.

I wouldn't say that. I've seen shit captains lose much better spec'd ships to good pilots in EVE, too.

What is the combat in STO like? Is it very hard to fly ships? Are there proper Newtonian physics?

There is no real 3 but you can get your ships tilted to about 75 +/- and shields are sides, front and back, so it is like the TV show and more closely resembles naval warfare with subs and low flying aircraft. But it has good collision detection, unlike many RPGs, so you can't fly through your enemies and enemy vesel explosions *will* damage you if you are close to them. But recreating battles like Wolf 359 are incredibly fun. I like to fly a small but powerful attack ship and let the larger ships do their tanking thing. If we engage enemy fleets, I pick off the little guys while the big ships engage the others and then I start doing hit and runs when the smaller enemies are no more. They also have the ability to hold fighters in really big ships that fly semi-autonomously if you like commanding a fleet.

Yeah, that sounds like it could be fun. I will say this, with all EVE offers you, it really can be boiled down to just Multiplayer Excel Spreadsheet.

Haha, I played through the tutorial last night. I was underwhelmed, but MMOs aren't usually my cup of tea. And given that it's free to play I will give it another shot.

Yeah I thought 10am to noon eastern was an odd time to do server upgrades especially when the kids are out of school already.

Well, back to SWTOR for the time being.
