I'm going to Taiwan tomorrow, and I prefer anonymous games, so I'll probably have to turn this one down. However, charles, I should be making a game of my own sometime in January, and I'd like you to be in it.

I'd be up for a game. I had taken a leave of absence from playing for a couple of months, but need to shake some rust off before the next League or Masters seasons start.

Personally I would prefer 48 hour or 50 hour phase lengths, much better opportunity to collaborate and deceive. But I can do 24 hours.

I'd certainly be on for a 48 hour game under these conditions, with a gentleman's agreement to expedite the retreat and build phases.

The good thing is that if you hit a trainwreck of a game in the first attempt to play here, it can only go up thereafter! :) The little vetting for a game done here will surely pay off handsomely.

Now I only need to somehow get webDiplomacy to give me Germany when I want to play! By far the position I like best in Standard Diplomacy.

Instead I got Turkey, the position I've studiously avoided as far back as I can remember (I'm not a Standard Diplomacy player anyway, I almost invariably stick to a few variants I like best). Well, gotta hope I discover the dubious joys of corner position that have previously eluded me. :)

as for 'getting' germany, the mods are able to change which country is assigned to which player.

With the agreement of all players i'd be willing to change (while in pre-game or paused in 1901) for you. If you notify me and post the agreed changes in global chat (or in a thread here)

of course taking what you get is fine too (i'm thinking in general if you find players before hand and agree to assign countries i'm willing to do it... )

That being said, a non-random way of assigning powers would IMO be a good addition to the site.

I believe it is on the todo list, but not sure how it is prioritized or when if ever it would be added.

I prefer WTA but the last couple that I have played, including a couple of large buy-ins involved some CDs that influenced the game. Sucked losing everything based on such outcomes.

I figure if I play a few PPSC games, I'll be able to rebuild my kitty. So far, it's been working.

I suppose once I build up a large enough kitty, I'll be back to WTA games.

1900, Ambition & Empire and my own designs: 1648 and 1936.

Not interested in the vast majority of variants to be honest. Most are poorly designed, quite frankly.
