GFDT Update
There is one game ongoing. I have finals next week and then there is only one week before Christmas. So, in an effort to pass my classes and to avoid numerous pauses in the first year of the game, it looks like Round 2 will begin the first week of January.

To play or not to play..
I've been debating for awhile on whether to play here or not. I'm pretty use to another site and I'm not a fan of betting for rank. Does this site have a policy on having more than one account? What is the policy on metagaming?

Thanks.

World Diplomacy Issue
I have noticed that as Russia in a game of world diplomacy, if you have a fleet in Moscow it can only move to the Black Sea - it cannot move to Armenia or Ukraine.

Internet Psycho-sociology... Is that a study of the social working of the Psychos found on the Internet? :-)
hellalt (24 D)
02 Dec 10 UTC
lol it's more a psychological and sociological approach of the internet
webdiplomacy.net was studied as an example of a successful online community/network
The study is about 30 pages long and was written in Greek.
I have uploaded it in google translated English somewhere but it really doesn't make much sense.
I'm not going to translate 30 pages myself unless they ask me for a translation in case they want to go public with the paper.
Invictus (240 D)
02 Dec 10 UTC
That's pretty neat. Its must be nerve racking writing a 30 page paper worth only 10 D. I assume 10 D is a lot in the class?

I remember it, and it wasn't so bad in English. Do you suppose you could post a link to that English translation on your profile quotes, so we can have it to look at as a interesting cultural artifact? (for us laymen, the quality of the tranlsation does not matter very much)

the paper's conclusion closes with Octavious' line
""It is the sort of community you find in the better kind of pub on the better kind of night with plenty of the better kind of social lubricant".
that was the line I liked best.
fiedler (1293 D)
03 Dec 10 UTC
Good paper! I think, although the translation is surprisingly good. I like the line: "The members of the community are for the mostly men of high social and cultural level." - how on earth did you get that impression? ;)
hellalt (24 D)
03 Dec 10 UTC
This line should be:
"Members of the community are mostly English speaking men of high educational and social level from all the age spectrum "
Draugnar (0 DX)
03 Dec 10 UTC
Actually, I would say that is pretty accurate. It is a primarily male group here, mostly college educated or in college. The high school and middle school "kids" (not intended to be derogatory) are clearly of an intellectual capacity above those of their typical peers. Socially speaking, though, we come from a variety of walks with everything from anarchists to academia to business professionals to capitalists to socialists and all ranks in between.

hellalt (24 D)

it's a 2,5 years postgraduate program in internet psychosociology located in Athens.
I'm in the final semester now.
My final paper will be e-commerce in Greece examined through the websites of the companies of the Greek stock market.
