@ghug: I mainly posted it to try sparking interesting discussion and to try seeing if there were any Nobbs, and also try try opening the discussion with that being a side for people to pick if they felt like it.
@goldfinger: the main reason why P.e. Says no Lynch day 1 is bad is because it can be used to gain discussion, and info. Scum will usually talk more often if there is a threat of a Lynch, and the discussion can be used to gain info. It is true that in almost no cases unless someone messes up really badly, or if they are lurking and may get mod killed, there will not be a day 1 Scum Lynch. They are usually able to determine which people are lynched early game so the chance of catching a Townie is way smaller than the 4/19 chance that there would be at random.
To start off this game I think that we should try to avoid lurking for long periods of time if possible. Real life stuff happens and, while not being a necessarily Scummy thing to do, it does not help with discussion. Even more than this though, I think that we should try focusing on not posting just to meet post count, or messing around in this thread as a general rule. It does not contribute to the discussion, and actually makes it a lot harder to scum hunt as it makes the thread a lot longer, and also makes it easier for the scum ti fit in. I would personally prefer a lurker to someone who makes frequent, non-helpful, posts. I think that we should also try keeping this a very open place for discussion though, and that we should not vote for people over extremely small things. It is distracting and, to be honest, all people in this game will do things that could be considered Scummy. We should also avoid tunnel vision if possible as, if we look hard enough, we would be able to find a possible scum motive that is advanced by almost any post. Lastly I think that we should try to base our decisions mainly off of evidence that we personally have noticed. A case against someone may be convincing, however, that may just be because they are a somewhat bad player. Also, when looking at a case you should be willing to try clarifying it, and to look at both sides of the argument. A case against someone will have very likely come from a member from the scum team.
Overall though, I think that the main things that we should be looking for is lurking for long periods of time, posting erratically without much substance, weak cases against people (especially from experienced players), and other things such as contradictions in an argument. Let's try to avoid jumping to conclusions prematurely, should give people opportunities to explain themselves, and should also make sure that the execution of someone will further the town cause. Woukd the rest of you agree with these?
