Socrates, don't let the troll drive you away.
But I have been asking myself for the past few days what could be all the cause of this. There have been demonstrations worldwide, but violence seemingly only occurs in Arabic nations. From my search of the news, there have been protests in Jakarta (Indonesia), Dhaka (Bangladesh), Mauritania, Afghanistan, Kuwait, Amman (Jordan), Lebanon, Egypt, Yemen, Libya, and Sudan. However, violent protests have only occurred in Lebanon, Egypt, Libya, Yemen and Sudan.
So clearly, there has to be some sort of difference that sets the Middle East apart from the rest of the world, who just burned some effigies of Obama and the American flag and went home for the day. I just don't buy the argument that it has all been over that video. Egypt I can understand that we've supported Mubarak, Yemen I can understand with the drone attacks, but why the hell were the embassies in Sudan attacked? Or the riots in Lebanon (lord help the Pope, who's there for the weekend).
My latest idea on this (its a new one every day) is that after the protests in Cairo and the terrorist attack in Libya (which is the only logical explanation for Libya bending over backwards to apologize when we only send them $2 million a year in aid, while Egypt doesn't go nearly as far to apologize and we give them $1.55 billion) the citizens of other Arab nations saw the attacks on the embassies and 1) Saw the lack of response by local police forces and lack of condemnation by Morsi as a legitimization of attacking them as a response and 2) Said "Hey, the Egyptians attacked the US embassy. Let's one-up them and BURN the embassy in Khartoum!"
Now, said individuals are a network of extremist groups throughout the Arab world, not the majority of people in these nations, but I am likening their mentality to that of a rather stupid frat boy, in that when one frat does an insane stunt or throws a killer party, the girls will go to that frat. In order to get them back to your frat, you have to do something even more insane or throw a better party. Now replace "stunt" with "violent embassy attack" and "party" with "Mass demonstration" and "girl" with "radical Muslims around the world" and that about sums up my opinion on things.
