Don't get me wrong...I suck long donkey cock at this game (and will probably sit the next one out, IF I ever come back to it), but there was no way to put a bigger target on yourself than a fake arsonist claim.

what is wrong with claiming arso? Worst that would happen is the actual arso is killed which would be good. Honestly even if I had been on I would not have admitted Chaqa is real arso as in all games where there had been a 3rd party in the past, it Did not result in a town win. He also had doused me and another Townie, which would have brought it down to 3 town, 1 arso, and 3 mafs. No matter what had happened, if he had survived it would not have been a town win,

Eh, it was my first night so I was working things out. I forgot the whole doc save thing, and was pretty sure thd would save himself that night. Figured someone else claiming rb would be worse.

I wish I had hit gold in the Jeff Kuta/gold vote. I sort of wish I had shot gold night 1. He was my first choice, but I decided that I didn't want to shoot him because it was his first game and I wanted him to play in the future. Ah well. Besides that, obviously I was wrong and I should learn from this and get better, but I honestly can't pretend like I played poorly. I think this was a reflection of my true skill, especially given that I read the thread exactly once. I didn't have time to go back and make more nuanced connections, so I was just running with the heuristics I had, which did not serve me well, obviously.

I also wish I had switched to goldfinger tonight. I think if I had done that we had a good shot (guak claiming doctor was crazy and a godsend for town), and I was seriously considering it after gold suggested at the end of the turn that we should just lynch the doc counterclaim if we weren't sure. I think we would have found guak out for sure, so it was just a question of whether we would have lynched Maniac over DL

I don't see why the fakeclaim was crazy. There's no way town would had found out. It was a WIFOM argument if I was not killed during the night, especially since you basically said that if I survived I would be guaranteed scum. Goldie flipping hooker would had made you believe more than ever before that I was town because I was pushing the goldie kill while thd was voting DL. Either way, you would had been NK and Ike and DL were completely buying me as doc thx to meme's fakeclaim.

not necessarily, if he had scanned Maniac it would not had worked. he likely would had protected you or Ike and that would had been a 50 50 guess. Plus, there is no way you could had orchestrated for both of us to claim our scans at the same time and you can always say it was a guess. If thd had scanned DL or tv an accusation of mafia buddy helping out would had occurred. Two nights would had been needed to find me out and that would had required a tie vote. Risky situation with two mafia out there willing to switch votes near end of game. What I mean is that it was not so simple.

I did regret choosing the fakeclaim route for a second because I was the hardest mafia to find at the time, but I really did not feel like dragging the game along and it was a very reasonable risk. Especially since only ghug considered the Maniac me team and he backed out saying it was a joke.

@Chaqa: if I had been town I would had been pushing that sentence all over the place. I did accuse meme and uclabb of tunnel vision a couple of times, but I did not push it because I was loving it.

My hope for next game is that Chaqa will develop some convictions and actually be useful rather than sitting around whining nihilistic ally.

No, but he was trying to behave like town. He clearly has this belief that we can't know anything, and if we can't know anything there's no point in playing. I want him to be useful the next time he's town, and I find it unlikely that he will.

By the way, for those who did not read the mafia thread, Day 1 makes an interesting read as it pretty much shaped out the whole game.

I remember N1 I mentioned I felt Flum and Chaqa were power roles and I argued in favor of random kills like OB that would throw everyone off instead of the traditional aim for ghug or uclabb early.

Ghug, I don't believe we can't know anything. I believe we shouldn't jump to conclusions or make black-and-white interpretations. And really, this game more than any other proves how there's no single strategy that wins over others. For all the effort and skill we all put in, guak escaped everyone's suspicion and Maniac only drew minor suspicion.

Even gold, who we ALL thought was scum, SURVIVED the game, even though he was on the block for THREE DAYS... I mean, come on.
