A charter plane carrying forty-five passengers from a Uruguayan Soccer Team crashed somewhere high in the Andes mountains, but due to storm, poor navigation and faulty radio contact, its position could be only approximated and the condition of its passengers was unknown.
Many passengers and crew were kiIIed instantly, as the plane broke apart at
initial impact; more died within days and others were killed by avalanches that buried the shelter improvised within the wreckage of the fuselage. Still others died during the next long weeks, Finally, after the official search had been halted and restarted several times, and while some of the families of the passengers persisted in their efforts to at least find the wreckage, the last 19 survivors clung to life. Herein is a completely unrealistic account of how the nineteen passengers fared for seventy days through terrible storms, sub-zero temperatures at 13,500 feet, and four sadistic cannibals lurking among them eating additional people at night.
The chartered plane had carried little food and much of this - along with most of the baggage - fell with the tail section several miles from where the fuselage, which had lost its wings, came to rest. The small amount of food available was gone in a few days and the survivors faced the terrible choice between certain death from starvation, or eating the weaker among them.

ROLE PMs:
Town - You are a crash survivor (vanilla townie)! During the day, you may vote for any player to be eaten (lynched). At the end of the day phase, the player with the most votes will be eaten. You will win if all Mafia members have been eliminated.
Mafia - You are a cannibal (vanilla mafia)! During the day, you may vote for any player to be eaten (lynched). At the end of the day phase, the player with the most votes will be eaten. During the night, you may converse with your fellow cannibals in the Mafia QT - *****************- and collectively vote on a player to kill. The Mafia QT is only open during Night phases. You win if, at any point, the remaining cannibals outnumber the remaining crash survivors.
In the day phase, you can cast your vote by posting ##VOTE PLAYER - for example, ##VOTE PETERLUND would count as a vote for Peterlund to be lynched. You may vote as many times as you wish in a phase, but only your most recent vote will count.
To remove your vote entirely, post ##UNVOTE. To vote for no player to be lynched, post ##VOTE NOLYNCH. If NoLynch has more votes than any individual player, then no player will be lynched that phase.
To vote to end the day phase early, post ##END. The day phase will end early if there are a majority of players voting for the same candidate who are all voting End, and the following night phase will be extended to ensure it ends at 6pm EDT. The night phase will never last less than 24 hours.
Mountainous Mafia is an all vanilla game. There are no PR, there are no special rules, there are no mafia specialists. Mountainous is the setup featured in the 2017 World Mafia Championships. The benefits of this setup are abundant. Namely, it encourages all Vanilla Town equal interest. There is no PR apathy, there is no unimportant role. Mountainous tests the core of ability of all players and brings the game back to being a deduction puzzle. There are no clears and nothing to fall back on.
