Would it be wrong to fight a war of extermination against a separate sentient species? With or without provocation, as in they started the war, and we are just finishing it, or we both compete for the same scarce resources so we wipe them out.

Yeah, not much more I can say beyond that. Nothing bad or tragic, all good things actually, I just didn't have time to tie up loose ends with WebDip in a responsible manner before having to jet. Hope everything is well in this community. I do miss the game and the people, at least most of you! =P Would be interested in seeing if I still know how to play some time.

Affirmative Action
In my opinion it is time to get rid of Affirmative Action and its racist ideals, and this supreme court case will hopefully make AA less racist.

I think the East was settled, I am trying to race for a solo, but my moves (which I did NOT plan on stabbing at first when I made them aka, the move back to Vienna and Trieste) made it too clear
Fortress Door (1837 D)
10 Oct 12 UTC
But Austria is a weak country of mine. I stabbed because Austria needs a lot of centers in the beginning of the game, and you were the best source to get them. The thing is, I have a hard time playing the agressive countries like Austira and Germany, so I may have stabbed too early
JimTheGrey (968 D(S))
10 Oct 12 UTC
Okay, but by attacking Italy, you're paving the way for France to flood the Med. That just makes his solo more likely. You had one fleet. But the East wasn't settled. You didn't have Rumania yet. You only had one Turkish dot. Russia still held his three southern dots.
Fortress Door (1837 D)
10 Oct 12 UTC
but two of them were fleets, and most Russia's would've disbanded those useless fleets

and a better Germany would've slowed him down enough for me to make enough gains. I am not sure if my stab was timed correctly, but it probably would've happened the next year

My ranking list:

Italy (no matter what do you it can work out, three options: Lepanto, Austria (Crusher) or France
Turkey: basic enough to do anything and still do OK (except attack Italy)
France (just a good position)
Germany (meh)
England (never had a good England gunboat)
Russia (I NEVER DO WELL! I just stay along barely alive and wait for the draw)
Austria for clear reasons

1901-
I wanted to work with Germany against England, because England needs to be dead if I want to solo, and I know he's thinking the same of me, so I wanted to be the one to initiate combat.

I supported myself into Burgundy, hoping Germany wouldnt take it the wrong way. He opened to the Baltic, Kiel, and Ruhr which was a great sign for me. England opened north, and so did Russia. This was all great news, as England how had to support his convoy over. I ended up taking my naturals and Belgium.

1902-
I waived one build for two reasons: 1) I didn't want there to be a huge target on my back, and more specifically, I wanted to show Germany I wasn't coming for him, but 2) more importantly, I wanted to save the build for another fleet in Brest in 1902.

I ended the year in Irish and MAO, armies in Bel, Bur, and Gas. I let England take the channel (briefly), at the expense of vacating Brest for the fleet build.

1903-
There were no units in or next to Liverpool, so I walked in with the convoy. I also retook the channel because England moved to wales. Italy, after not being able to get past the ionian in his lepanto attempt, turned to me. However, Austria turned to him at the same time, so I thought Italy would back off (and he did).

I moved Lvp-Edi and Irish-Lvp, and they both worked. England was down to only London, and I had 8 centers and was a bit worried about how fast I was growing. I didn't want them to band together to stop me so quickly.

1904-
I was a bit worried Germany would turn on me (because of thinking I was going to move on him), seeing the position I was in. To try and deter him, I build fleet Mar in 1903., and proceeded to move south. I added Tunis this year.

1905-
I built another fleet in Mars in 1904, but Germany built army Berlin. He was making good progress on Russia and his units were all out of position. I knew this was my time to strike. I ended up taking Holland and Munich.

In the south, I added Rome to my list of centers, but didn't take Rome because Italy and Austria were still fighting, which I loved to see.

1906-
I was pretty sure I had the solo in the bag at this point. Germany took back Munich, but I retreated into Berlin, and added Denmark (convoyed from my army which was still in Edi), and Kiel.

1907-

In the Spring, I finally walked into Rome, and in the fall I took Venice and Norway for my 16-18th centers.

All in all, I think I played pretty well. My solo was also aided by the fact that the east didn't band together to stop me. I was able to take all of Italy, which means I didn't have to push as far through Germany.

I do still think I could have soloed if they banded together earlier, but I would have had to fight for it. I ended up soloing pretty easily. I don't solo much, so if I am able to not only do it, but do it easily, then you know my opponents must have made some big mistakes.

Moreover, Germany left himself out of position and underdefended when a possible stab was incoming. I ended up just catching him at the perfect time. His units were all east, but he was just on the brink of taking Russian centers, but had yet to do so. He only had units in Munich and Holland (and Denmark/Norway). He also messed up in 1905 when I moved on him. I think it was obvious I was going to take Holland with Ruhr because of the possibility of Munich cutting support from Ruhr had I tried that. He did try it though, and walked out of Munich to Ruhr as I waked in from Burgundy.

England was in a tough place, and he was going to die anyway, but he ended up doing it very quick which put me in that position where I was able to dominate the board. e could have moved his EDI fleet to Clyde to put a unit on Liverpool so I couldn't walk in instead of to the North Sea where it wouldn't help him against my attack. Then after I convoyed in, he could have moved that North Sea fleet back to Edi to make sure I only got one build. He did neither of these, which let me take two off him in 1903 to put me at 8 already.

I accept it as valid, though I TRIED to stop fighting in the fall of 1905. You had the solo when Italy disbanded Apullia
Skittles (1014 D)
10 Oct 12 UTC
So, it turns out that was still a wall, but it was shorter and more concise than the one I had written before. It's also probably of higher quality. Also, in 1905 I took Naples, not Rome :x

Skittles (1014 D)

Also, one thing I noticed, and I think it contributed greatly to the solo, is how I didn't have ANY resistance in the water on either front. Germany had two fleets, but one was on StP south coast. England obviously died early and wasn't able to resist. Italy was engaged in a fight in the east, only had two fleets, and wasn't even in the Ionian when I turned his way. Turkey died early and obviously wasn't able to establish navy power. Austria wasn't able to get any more because he never has triest open to build. Russia disbanded his northern fleet, enough said.

Nobody else but me had more than two fleets for any significant amount of time. England had three after 1901 builds but had to disband in 1903. Russia also had three after 1901 builds, but two were on the black sea and he had to disband his northern one in 1904. After that, I pretty much ran rampant.
Fortress Door (1837 D)
10 Oct 12 UTC
Yes, I think fleets are the main power in the end game. In my last solo as Italy, I won because I completely outfleeted the other people. I ended up with fleets in the North Atlantic. If it had gone on, I would've laid seige to the island.

1901

I decide to open noncomittal, worrying more about Italy than Russia.

Italy opens Lepanto, while Austria moves to Galicia AND North at the same time???

Luckily, I out guessed Russia in Budapest, but this is turning out to be like another game I played before... where I got beat

1902
With Russia pissing off the north, I decide to make Turkey my next target. Thanks for trying out stupid stuff, bo. Turkey went for Russia and bouce Italy at the same time, leaving me in the Aegean.
I also took care of that pesky Russian army, and was glad to see Germany joining in on the Russian Wars.

My fall moves gave me a lot of trouble. Fearing a stab from Italy, I move back to Trieste and Vienna, which sends off warning bells in Italy's mind. In Turkey, I took Bulgaria.

1903

I open against Italy, who saw it coming. DAMNIT! I can't take Venice this phase, so I instead decide to surround him by putting armies in Piedmont and Tyrolia, using my build to get an army in Trieste.

for Russia, I decided to put an army in Galicia to have a small finger in the pie

in Turkey, i take Constantinople, he didn't even bother to support hold it.

1904
Italy sets up a perfect defense against me. My spring attack on him fails, while my fall one WOULD'VE gotten me Venice if France hadn't cut support in Piedmont. DAMN.

I say bye to the Russian area to send more units west

In Turkey, I managed to get Ankara without a fight, while Italy gets Smryna. In hindsight, bouncing Italy in Smryna probably would've been best.

1905

In the spring, I made one last mad dash for Italian centers, but to no avail. France is also swaming us with fleets. Time to bury the hatchet. I attack Piedmont, and support hold Smryna trying to make Italy help, but to no avail. He disbanded the unit we probably needed the most: Apullia.
Russia decides "I want to help France solo!" and tries to stab, which did nothing more than annoy me all game, and DID help France win.

1906

I move into full statlamte position. I take Venice, since I was sure we were doomed anyways, but I decided to let Italy stay around in Trieste. Stay there so you don't mess things up. Italy FINALLY understands I mean him no harm, and support holds Venice.
in Russia, he has an army in Galicia, and disbands Rumania. CRAP

1907
Just when we MIGHT have hope, I misorder and move into Trieste. Sending Italy into A DRUNKEN RAGE!

he moves out of everything and let's France win, the end
bro you didn't stop harassing Italy until France was in the Ionian

it was too late by then
Fortress Door (1837 D)
10 Oct 12 UTC
Well there that was really the point of no return. I wanted a speedy victory against Italy, or at least get one center
Fortress Door (1837 D)
10 Oct 12 UTC
Looking through it, the only way to stop France would've been to not attack Italy at all. So I messed up when I did that
Skittles (1014 D)
10 Oct 12 UTC
Yea, I think the problem started before 1905. By that point, I was already a threat. You needed to bury the hatched earlier, let Italy move his fleets back towards me and try to stop me. The apulia disband would have slowed me down, but I would have still been able to overcome it I do believe.

In 1907, Italy not defending was irrelevant. Had he fully defended, I would have still been able to take Venice. The game was over by that point, though, and even had I not taken Venice, I had many more options of north to take my 18th.

Too be honest, I wasn't planning on taking so much in the south, because I didn't expect to be able to. Originally I was just going to send a few units south and lock up a stalemate down there to include Tunis and take the standard northern 18. When I saw the opportunity arise, though, I took it.
Fortress Door (1837 D)
10 Oct 12 UTC
I will take that advice for next game. I was just pissed because there was lack of effort to even try
Skittles (1014 D)
10 Oct 12 UTC
Oh yea, I've been in that situation before where people don't even try and stop a solo in very defensible positions, and it makes me tear my hair out. I've also been the guy who did everything he could to throw the solo once I knew a draw that included me was not going to be an option.

And I'm not sure I'm good enough to consider my opinions worthy advice, but all I can do is tell it like I see it, even if sometimes I'm dead wrong.
