I suppose this is what I have a problem with. "Just because we are Jews" is not a reason. If I wanted to study this issue and if I concluded in my doctorate thesis, that Jews were killed because they were Jews, I'd be the laughing stock of the university.
Again, I'm not trying to pretend that racism doesn't exist, but racism that lasts centuries and centuries and centuries among many different people, of many different cultures, religion and creeds, suggests something different.
How does one explain this perpetual victim-hood that ONLY exists with relation to Jews? No where else does this level of pure hatred and racism persist in all of history, yet we are happy to label it with the same old excuse as every other racist act.
We can argue this, but I'm beginning to think here...
In this thread we've discussed the fact that Jews think they are special, that they are God's chosen people, that they work hard and strive to be better than everyone.
What if they ARE, in fact, better than everyone? And what if that feeling of theirs gets reflected in how they treat others?
Treating others around you as if you are superior would certainly explain much of the sentiments that seem to not be restricted by culture, age, religion or creed much better than "because we are Jews".
One needs only to look how Israel acts too see an example of this. They treat their neighbors poorly, they treat non-Jewish citizens poorly, they expect special treatment and wave the Holocaust around when it suits them, they defy the UN continually, they collectively punish Palestinians...in fact, Zionists were offered land in Russia for their homeland, but they refused because they wanted what God promised them...that is to say, they chose religion over security, but will always use the security excuse...Arabs be damned.
Israel does not play nice on levels no other nation can compare. Is it possible that Jews are better and it shows? to the ire of everyone else?
Now, before you get your panties in a wad, I'm simply exploring possible explanations by drawing parallels. "Because we are Jews" is an excuse, not a reason.
I understand that millions of Jews throughout the world live in peace with their neighbors...arabs, white, black, etc. What is the difference between those Jews and the ones that keep getting persecuted time and time again?
If you think about it rationally, the answer is clear. Jews do not treat non-Jews with the same respect as they do other Jews.
