Hmm, that's not what I think of as an office wife. What Alderian said sounds like an office assistant/secretary. To me, the "office wife" / "office husband" label describes the personal relationship between the two, not the work function relationship.

I consider it more like, it's recognized in the office environment that these two people have a non-physical friendly relationship that distinguishes them as a "couple". Go out to lunch together, sit next to each other in meetings, bicker at each other.

In grade school, when the teacher said "everyone pick a partner" you knew that certain people were going to immediately grab each other and pair off. An office couple will do that.

But why can't you just do that with someone who is in the gender you're not attracted to? Or if you're bi, someone who is off your sexual radar (like in my case an old woman)?

It's the same reason why so many TV shows have mixed-gender heterosexual stars, so there's always that sexual tension of what if? Except in TVland, they eventually get together and in officeland they're not supposed to (but sometimes do anyway). I don't watch primetime TV anymore, but I'll date myself with old shows like Moonlighting or Remington Steele. They just wouldn't be the same if the stars were two hetero men or women. I guess that would make them buddy shows instead.

It should be Draugnar Annalindo. Anna means gift in Quenyan and colindo means bearer. So either Colindanna or Annalindo works. When used as the second part of a word, the co- gets dropped.
