What if the Post Office closes? Just kidding. Postage is so damned expensive because the Postal Service does not use government money. It is an entirely self-sufficient agency.

"The United States defaulted on its debt on April 26, May 3, and May 10, 1979.
America wasn't finished."
Things were a little different back then, TC. You and I both know that.
"The real threat is if we do not address the ticking time bomb of Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid spending."
You're right about that. Those three programs are all time bombs.

"No one seriosuly believes they won't do a deal, do they?"
Like I said, I'm getting nervous. I think both sides are holding the American economy hostage in an attempt to win support for the 2012 elections. How much longer is the sabre rattling going to last?
Besides, we could lose our number one credit rating if this thing goes on for much longer, default or no default.
A close friend of mine has a degree in economics, and he's telling anyone who will listen to batten down their financial hatches. I'm thinking about putting my money in precious metals myself.
