Log on problems
On my other PC I can log in, but every time I click on a game or one of the links up top it logs me out and says Welcome, Guest. Anyone have an idea how to fix this?

League Links and Progress
Would someone be kind enough to post the links to the league games please? I am interested to see what's going on in other groups.

Have any of the games actually completed yet?

What McCain said during the last debate...
About 25 minutes into the debate McCain (in reference to townhall meetings) said, "The way Barry Goldwater and Jack Kennedy agreed to do before the intervention (touches nose & corrects himself)... the tragedy at Dallas."

Fast forward to 24:20...he begins the above sentence at 24:30 and uses the term 'intervention' at 24:35.

Conspiracy theories aside, under what circumstances is it appropriate to use the term "intervention" to describe the JFK "tragedy"?

Is this a simple mistake? If so, how and why?

I was expecting to see him catch himself and correct himself to 'tragedy', like he knows something. But his sentence was smooth and continuous, and without the nose touch we wouldn't suspect anything. I do think you could call it an 'intervention' because somebody was interfering with American Politics. You could go into conspiracy theories or not, which is best left for another thread, but I don't see anything nefarious here.

Me either. Kennedy was killed by Cuban agents trained by the mob and paid for by the CIA after taking shooting lessons in the Soviet Union with reverse engineered alien technology anyhow.

Meh, I'm willing to write it off as a slip up, people make mistakes in speaking, especially when they aren't reading a prepared speech. I'm no McCain supporter, but... meh, this doesn't strike me as anything big.
DrOct (219 D(B))

@Invictus

That' is totally and completely true. ;)
I can't right that off as a mistake in speaking. How do you use the work 'intervention' accidentally like that? A mistake is calling it an 'accident' or 'gods will', but intervention? How do you use that word accidentally?
write not right

Dingleberry, 'Intervention' is the correct word I believe. Someone, whether a single person or a vast conspiracy, interfered with the normal operations of the government. Perhaps McCain believes there was a conspiracy. So What?

no intervention does not make sense no one can make that mistake accidentally unless he knows something more
Darwyn (1601 D)

Besides McCain just now, has anyone else referred to the JFK assassination as an intervention?

In textbooks, in written word, in speeches, in conversation? The term intervention just doesn't fit here...at all. And I've never heard it referred to as such.

I guess I just am willing to beleive that sometimes (and I've done this) when under pressure you just pull out completely wrong words, that may not have anything to do with the subject at hand, especially when you may have been using a term in other contexts earlier (or planning to later). Intervention could have simply been a word floating around in his head/short term memory due to all of the talk about economic interventions etc. I'm not saying it isn't suspicious at all, and I understand why it freaked some people out, but I just... I just don't think there's anything there. But then I'm not much of a conspiracy theorist (as fun as they are sometimes).
Darwyn (1601 D)

I agree DrOct...we can mix up words at times and essentially in this case, there's nothing that you can really put your hat on to determine anything.

I just thought it was an interesting choice of words...and the follow up nose touch and correction from 'intervention' to 'tragedy' is something of significant note, I think.

I know McCain is much more comfortable in situations like that than I am, but just knowing myself, if you put a camera on me, or put me in front of a big group of people I tend to freeze up and have trouble really focusing on what I'm saying. Clearly both he and Obama were under tremendous pressure in this last debate (especially McCain who needed to pull out a win), it may have just been his mind panicking a little and just grabbing the nearest available word.
This of course is itself not much of an endorsement of McCain. We want a president who can stay cool and collected under pressure (one of many reasons I'd never want to be president!)

I listened to it a couple time and i think he means that the tragedy got in the way of the town hall meetings that were scheduled. It was a bad wording, but i dont think that he was referring to the tragedy as an intervention. Im not doing this to protect McCain, i am a democrat

couldn't God's will considered an Intervention if it happened to be situation or event that changed the life of someone?
Maica (145 D)

Oh yes, McCain definitely meant something sinister with that remark? No, I dont quite think so. I think he just messed up his words, that was people do. You dont even have to be under pressure, sometimes it just happens.

To pause or not to pause... that is the question
In one of my games, a user requested to pause the game as he was not able to enter moves. I have chosen to accept, but the thought of not accepting crossed my mind (one reason being that the player is in no way bound by their pledge to start it again at a certain time).

Looking at some of the Winner takes all games, it appears that the stated restriction about >100 points to join doesn't apply. Does anyone know why? (Possibly this was in a previous post I missed)

End of Game Statements. Brief explanation?
I read of the existence of EOG statements in some other post, but - not having finished a game yet - I do not exactly know what this means (who does it? What is the typical content of it? Etc...)

Anybody would like to explain? Thanks!

3rd Presidential Debate: Best Moment ?
For me, the best moment was when McCain asked Obama how much his fine on Businesses ('Joe the Plumber') is if they didn't provide healthcare. He really hammered Obama on it. And Obama replied "zero, I provide an exception for small businesses." McCain was just floored, stunned, and looked like a dear in the headlights, a shocked/blank expression for a full minute.
