Windows 8 <-> XBox 360 Help...
Trying to connect my music media from my Win 8 computer (no comments...I know..I know...) to my XBox 360. The XBox media player will see my laptop, but when I select it to play music, it fails and says "Can't connect to the PC. A firewall may be blocking the connection"

I've played you twice. We each got defeated/in on the draw once.

If someone has the time to waste and wants to look at my press, I don't really mind. Doubt that there's much to be learned though... I mean, if the point is to convince gunboaters that diplomacy is important in a game called Diplomacy, chances are nothing is going to win them over. If the point is to provide a learning experience, I'd want to say that good diplomacy is playing off your personality, its strong and weak points, and trying to surf on your competitors' personalities. In other words, how I do diplomacy might work for me, but it might not work for a different minded person.

But again, yeah... sure... you can have my press!

And JMO... It's been too long mate! How've you been? I see you sucked up to Kestas something fierce and that you now have tons of privileges, huh? ;)
Cachimbo (1181 D)
02 May 13 UTC
You got my +1 yonni!
jmo1121109 (3812 D)
02 May 13 UTC
@cachimbo, it's been well. Apparently, haha, it takes up most of my game playing time, but it's still enough fun to keep me around the site. :) We really do have to get a game together one of these days.
ghug (5068 D(B))
02 May 13 UTC
Really?

I feel like I remember you being in the first gunboat I ever played. Was the other a real game?
jmo1121109 (3812 D)
02 May 13 UTC
Oh you're right about that, I don't remember actually playing a regular gunboat game...weird. http://www.webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=65505

And the other was a full disclosure game. http://www.webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=89081#gamePanel. Which I played terribly in.

We should get an actual game in this summer if you're up for it.

"We never even really fought."

ghug, no wonder I didn't know what you were talking about, in reference to me stabbing you, because I didn't stab you!

As far as my definition of not stabbing people goes, let's not tip MKECharlie off to this thread, I don't want to get into *that* conversation with him again, I think enough tears have been shed by both of us already...
MadMarx (36299 D(G))

"I am surprised that you didn't mention me since I was the one who actually played you and Jacob off each other =P"

jmo, don't flatter yourself, Jacob and I do our thing all on our own and need help from no man. You may have been Moe to sly's Larry and Cach's Curly, but in the end you were merely the three stooges off doing your own irrelevant things that had little to nothing to do with the fact that you guys got a three-way draw.

And Cach thinks I like to stir shit up. Ridiculous! :-P

MM, You did though. You take a shot at a solo and you're stabbing everyone.

@Jmo, exactly. My Austria took on a mod juggernaut and won. If you really do need more proof, I'll be happy to oblige.
Cachimbo (1181 D)
04 May 13 UTC
This has just been too quiet since that little argument...

@MM: I would never pay a cent for your press, nor desire to steal it. In fact, having it in my possession would be considered burdensome. I have more than enough of the little you send my way every time we play one another... Way more than enough!!!

@ Ghug: you seem feisty... I like it... Makes it all the more entertaining when they go down in flames!

@ Gen Lee: I like me a southerner willing to go down with a shred of honor. There's a smell of contradiction to it all that never fails to provoke a smile.

@ the others...: Looking forward to hear more from you, et particulièrement toi, le français... le Ju-ju... !!!
Julien (2065 D)
04 May 13 UTC
ha ha Cachimbo, are you French too? You seem to have a perfect mastery of our strange language, so this makes me suspicious. I am always a bit suspicious anyhow of diplomacy players.. you know lies, backstab and all this stuff :)
but apart from that I haven't got much to say, im getting more and more boring as days pass by.
Cachimbo (1181 D)
04 May 13 UTC
Is French really a "strange language"? What makes it so?

And to hear you say I have perfect mastery of the thing... well, it's both flattering my ego and somewhat humbling. After all, if you can judge how well I 'master' the language from but a few silly lines, that is a testament to the strength of your intellect and your perceptiveness. Such that, at the end of the day, I fear I have to be more suspicious of you than you of me!

If you two, Julien and Cachimbo, are this insufferable now, before the game has even started, how much worse is it going to get? :)
Julien (2065 D)

yeah that is why I was trying to shut up and keep low profile, before Cachimbo took me out of my hibernation mode :/ i feel like a bear, i hope ill get russia in the game.

Gen. Lee, do you have an official set of rules for this Grand Ball? In particular I'm curious about your definition of the word: gentlemen

Thanks in advance.
slyster (3934 D)

You are french too Julien?

We should start an other French game on webdip... Should be fun. I know there are some other players in here who speaks french as well.
Julien (2065 D)
04 May 13 UTC
Yes I am. Diplomacy is quite popular in France.
Gen. Lee (7588 D(B))
04 May 13 UTC

The definition of a gentlemen:
The forbearing use of power does not only form a touchstone, but the manner in which an individual enjoys certain advantages over others is a test of a true gentleman.
The power which the strong have over the weak, the employer over the employed, the educated over the unlettered, the experienced over the confiding, even the clever over the silly--the forbearing or inoffensive use of all this power or authority, or a total abstinence from it when the case admits it, will show the gentleman in a plain light

The gentleman does not needlessly and unnecessarily remind an offender of a wrong he may have committed against him. He cannot only forgive, he can forget; and he strives for that nobleness of self and mildness of character which impart sufficient strength to let the past be but the past. A true man of honor feels humbled himself when he cannot help humbling others.
Cachimbo (1181 D)
04 May 13 UTC
Wait... Was this game to be an "honorable" one? Are we to be... NICE to one another? That is one tough constraint on MM's game!

My wife told me that, when she was a kid, she was convinced it was "specific" time (instead of Pacific, yes?).

Always thought that was pretty cute.

We apparently have endless possibilities for planets to appear, in completely different climates and such... Does that mean endless possibilities for, for example, life, out there in the universe? So everything that is chemically and physically possible almost certainly happens somewhere right?

I need subs for the Masters. So far, all subs have been top 100 GR, and I'd like to keep it that way if possible (but please if you're interested don't let GR stop you from telling me). I need two more at least.

Some of you may be familiar with this puzzle/paradox, but please don't google it if you're not, and don't bring in outside sources till at least post 100; just post your OWN thoughts.

A cheap, reliable game
I've had a few too many games ruined by cheaters and CDs. I've created a anonymous game with a 25-point buy in that is pass-worded. If you're interested in playing, please reply and I'll PM you a password. I'd prefer it if you've completed (at least) 5 games, but I'll send the password to anyone who's not brand-new and has never "left" a game.
