"just how lazy they're becoming." Ever hear a commentator play a series of media soundbites about a news story or politicians...I think I heard a comedian do this recently, and I've heard 'conservative news personalities" do this: They'll grab a soundbite from from all the mainstream media on a given topic, including national broadcast, cable news, and local news outlets, and you find them *all* using the *exact* same language....like, the bulletin when out from news (governmnet?) central, and all the "reporters" are just reading. A recent example was "Obama's Charm Offensive"....uh, there was nothing charming about Obama recently, and yet I heard a montage of probably 30 different media sources using the exact same statement about Obama's "Charm offensive". Yes....this is hideously lazy "reporting"....it isn't reporting at all.
Back in the day, "60 Minutes" reporters were *feared*. If they showed up at your door, there was trouble. Politicians certainly didn't beg for an exclusive interview with them....today? Today, Democrats don't fear any media outlet except Fox News, and Republicans won't talk to any outlet except Fox News (with a few exceptions). The media have forsaken their constitutional mandate to be watch-guards over the government, and instead have chosen to be their kindly mouthpieces, for fear of losing the first inside scoop at the next catastrophe.
