Congressional Research Service Report: Wealth Doesn't Trickle Down!
You can download the CRS report from this Huffington Post article. Damn I wish TC were here. I have never missed him so badly. Also krellin, who hasn't been spouting racial slurs ever since I rewrote "Hey Mickey" for him. But hey, the rest of you Reaganomics types, feel free to criticize the report and turn a blind eye to its findings! (link inside)

Step 1 for GOP image reform: drug legalization
N.B.: This is not intended to be a discussion on the merits or demerits of drug legalization. I'm approaching the issue strictly from an electoral standpoint, that is, would this change be a good or bad move for the GOP politically.

International Reaction to the US Presidential Election?
CNN's reports characterized the UK response in one word--"WHEW!"
Accurate?
What do our WebDip friends Across the Pond think?
(Do you even CARE, actually, is this as big a deal internationally as some believe it to be, or is that all false American-fueled sentiment?)

World War-17
I'm sorry, but this thread is mostly for the mods or admins or gamemasters. We have a game, http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=100329&viewArchive=Maps, and it has been paused for 44 days, 3 hours (24 Sep 2012). The players, the ones who actually still care about this game and haven't given up on it, agree that this is an incredibly long pause and so I want to ask if this could be unpaused or if there is a time limit to how long a game can be paused. Thanx

Attention All Other Children of the 90s...Boy Meets World Spin-off Show Coming (What?)
If you grew up in the 90s like me, chances are you've at least heard of "Boy Meets World," (hey, Mr. Feeny introduced me to "Hamlet"--"Hamlet gets on a lot of people's nerves, makes one stupid mistake after another, and for five acts, he NEVER shuts up!") and now "BMW" is getting a sequel show...a full decade later...and Cory's...a teacher...??? http://tv.yahoo.com/news/-boy-meets-world--sequel-scoop--cory-turns-into-mr--feeny-.html

Where do we go from here?
Will this defeat in what should have been an opportunistic moment finally force Republicans to get back to what they should be doing? True fiscal conservatism, staying away from crazy and ridiculous social policies, and stop pandering to the bible thumpers? What comes next for the GOP?

Wow, I'm older than the great President Eden?

Nice letter, anyway. :)

We'll see of the GOP takes heed or, hey, there IS A growing grassroots movement among Libertarians--I don't have to tell you that--so maybe out of this mess, not for 2016, maybe, that's probably too optimistic and close, but 2020 and 2024, if this continues, the Libertarians could really start to break out and into the GOP in force and we may see a new GOP instead of the Big Business and Bible Banging First GOP we have today, one that lacks diversity and one that, clearly, is not connecting to the people.
I think we need to echo some things PE stated on both sides of the aisle. Most significantly presidential powers need to be rolled back and the curtailment of civil liberties related to the war on terror need to be fought. The TSA thing, as it always has been, is a convenient visual aide for some, that in fact is both necessary and largely irrelevant. The NDAA, the Patriot act and the rubber stamping of expansive presidential power, however, are real problems that need to be addressed. Over the next four years I am committing myself on the other side of the aisle for recognition of this fact.

PE you have a standing invitation to get blown by my girlfriend whenever you are in the area. After reading this she told me it was OK, and after reading this, the only thing I'll regret is that I can't help.

No really, nice work.

Two party system is a two party system. Humans shouldn't have to fit into a category of "Left or Right" and need to progress further beyond squabbling over petty differences between the two. The only way our species progresses at all is if we stop splitting things down the middle and saying "CHOOSE A SIDE."

Where do we go from here?

Fusionism. The GOP has to jettison social issues and become a libertarian party. They let themselves be portrayed as pro-rape. The fact that people could fall for that canard not only means there are more morons in the country than I thought, but also that the Republican brand is seen as being in the pockets of snake-handling loons. That can't go on.
Yellowjacket (835 D(B))
07 Nov 12 UTC
Well invictus the left was more than happy to help insinuate that - but Republicans sure make it easy to do so with their social policies.
