Congressional Research Service Report: Wealth Doesn't Trickle Down!
You can download the CRS report from this Huffington Post article. Damn I wish TC were here. I have never missed him so badly. Also krellin, who hasn't been spouting racial slurs ever since I rewrote "Hey Mickey" for him. But hey, the rest of you Reaganomics types, feel free to criticize the report and turn a blind eye to its findings! (link inside)

Step 1 for GOP image reform: drug legalization
N.B.: This is not intended to be a discussion on the merits or demerits of drug legalization. I'm approaching the issue strictly from an electoral standpoint, that is, would this change be a good or bad move for the GOP politically.

International Reaction to the US Presidential Election?
CNN's reports characterized the UK response in one word--"WHEW!"
Accurate?
What do our WebDip friends Across the Pond think?
(Do you even CARE, actually, is this as big a deal internationally as some believe it to be, or is that all false American-fueled sentiment?)

Is it EVER acceptable to CD?
If you're in a game which has been disrupted by mutlis not once, but twice, and you've voted "cancel" but not all other players have done the same, because some of them stand to benefit from the disruption caused by the multi(s)...
Jamiet99uk (873 D)

.... is it ever acceptable to just say "fuck it, I refuse to participate in this game any further" and deliberately go into CD? If not, why not?

I've done it 2 times. I just gave up. There was no point to continue. The other CDs on my record came from the days when we were on a shared server and it would freeze up during live games.
If it isn't a live game, and you are regularly checking the site then no. no excuses, you can't do that.

live games are different.
2ndWhiteLine (2611 D(B))

I've done it twice as well. The first was when I mistakenly signed up for a ten minute phase game and needed to go to bed. Second was when one player refused to ready up and dragged a live game out for over four hours. Czech understands that one.

@ Lando: "If it isn't a live game, and you are regularly checking the site then no. no excuses, you can't do that."

Why can't I? If the game has been ruined by mutli-accounting and cheating, and the majority of players involved agree that's the case, why should I be compelled to continue entering orders?
Quitting is quitting, so far as the game is going quitting is never acceptable - the only acceptable time to CD is when outside of game factors interfere to the point you are unable to enter orders.
Mapu (362 D)

Do you really want a CD on your record when you can just go enter holds or support holds until the game ends? Or ideally just play it out the best you can. If it's people like that then most likely they suck and you can get some points at the end.

Games with 2+ multi's are being cancelled or drawn based on the circumstances. If you feel a game has been influenced by multi-accounters or other banned players please send an email to [email protected]. This only applies to ongoing games, games will not be retroactively cancelled.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))

Jamie, it's okay to CD if you have an excuse for it. If you just give it up, I'd be a little peeved. If you're a 1-2 center nation, fine, but if you have any chance, at least try.

My philosophy is that in any situation where you'll get a resignation on your record, you should keep on going. If you'll get a defeat either way, it doesn't matter much, but it's still nice if you'd keep playing for the sake of the balance of the map. It's a tribute to other players that way.

Never give in! Never surrender! Except in this situation - where a player wont Cancel because he gains a lot from the missing players - then support someone who could win or force a draw against the hold-out, even if you have to make suicidal moves to do it.

World War-17
I'm sorry, but this thread is mostly for the mods or admins or gamemasters. We have a game, http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=100329&viewArchive=Maps, and it has been paused for 44 days, 3 hours (24 Sep 2012). The players, the ones who actually still care about this game and haven't given up on it, agree that this is an incredibly long pause and so I want to ask if this could be unpaused or if there is a time limit to how long a game can be paused. Thanx

Attention All Other Children of the 90s...Boy Meets World Spin-off Show Coming (What?)
If you grew up in the 90s like me, chances are you've at least heard of "Boy Meets World," (hey, Mr. Feeny introduced me to "Hamlet"--"Hamlet gets on a lot of people's nerves, makes one stupid mistake after another, and for five acts, he NEVER shuts up!") and now "BMW" is getting a sequel show...a full decade later...and Cory's...a teacher...??? http://tv.yahoo.com/news/-boy-meets-world--sequel-scoop--cory-turns-into-mr--feeny-.html

Will this defeat in what should have been an opportunistic moment finally force Republicans to get back to what they should be doing? True fiscal conservatism, staying away from crazy and ridiculous social policies, and stop pandering to the bible thumpers? What comes next for the GOP?
