And the real irony is that little man Putty is judging German beers based on what Germany exports to the US which isn't real German beer at all. If he had ever travelled Germany extensively as I did in 2005 & 2006, he would know there is great variety in German beer based on region due to how the ingredients are grown and the soil and climate as well as some additional ingredients used locally (wheat, apples, etc.)

On the topic of beer, has anyone ever tried Bulgarian Rose Beer, I had it while in europe for the summer. It's quite distinctive.

Can't say I have. Sounds interesting. My favorite cider is actually berry based. But the effect it has on my blood sugar is a doozy.

I tend to find most berry based ciders a little sweet for me, the sort of thing I might enough a half-glass of but wouldn't order by the pint at bars. While I find apple cider tart enough not to have that problem.

I did have an interesting strawberry kiwi one in scotland which was really sweet but still pretty nice.

Interesting is the word, if you like your beer...beer-like I wouldn't recommend it, it's almost more like a cooler.

The local places all have there pumpkin beer out for this time of year, which I have yet to try, but sounds interesting.

Side note, a bit belated but happy Alexander Keith's day to y'all. ;)

My favorite beers are actually what most Americans stick their noses ipod at. I love Mexican beers. Dos Equis and Corona. But I also like a lot of summer ales like Sam Adams and a few winter lagers as well.

The pumplin sounds good to. I just can't drink like I used to due to the blood sugar issues.

I've been on a real pumpkin beer kick the past few falls. Great Lake Brewery (not to be confused with great lakes from the States) makes an awesome one - in fact, they might be my favourite brewery at the moment. If any of you get a chance to try some of the Ontario microbrews, give their beers a try. They're fairly well stocked at the liquor stores.

I'm been impressed with this pumpkin beer from Quebec, La Magouille. Got it at Jungle Jims.

I love German beers...I am staying in Germany for over a month and I tried lots of varieties of beers, great stuff. There is hundreds of different sorts just in northern part of the country (and not to mention south - Bavarian beers). I tries some of local beers made in some church convents of something, really good beers even thought quite expensive. I will be here for few months still, so more time to the rest :)
