I would normally be worried, but, well, you know. The land has ways of shutting down them storms to make sure they don't do too much damage, so as long as it's a legitimate hurricane I think we'll be okay.

So, I ran a full scan with Avast yesterday and it found several thousand files that it classified as threats. I looked through them a bit, many seemed to be .dlls but but without giving it a lot of thought I instructed Avast to attempt repairs. This seems to have been a terrible mistake.

I've been playing on the site for a few weeks now after playing the board game several times in the past. The thing I am finding the most difficult is being too trusting.
Is there anything to be done? I'm just coming off of my second gunboat in a row being assigned Italy, and I'm finding that Italy's already-weak position in a standard-press game quickly turns disastrous without the ability to negotiate with potential allies.
Is there any way to help this situation? Anyone with experience winning, or at least getting a strong draw with Italy?
It's easy. Be patient. You can attack ausrria if you want... But I prefer opening lepanto and then turning on Austria once his back is turned. Anyway, just wait until someone is open for a stab, then go for it, and sony slow down once you got the momentum going,
Italy actually has many options. You could attack France or actually follOw through with you lepanto. Or you could jut open against Austria off the start.
Lepanto is always my preferred method as well, minus the backstab on Austria. I find that Austria's large land power and your naval power after a successful Lepanto allows for a good co-operation with a competent Austria.
I'm not sure I've ever opened westward as Italy, gunboat or otherwise, but that game makes me want to seriously give it a shot.
I've played a quasi-Lepanto my last few times as Italy, but I've found that without being able to communicate with Austria, I'm forced to cross my fingers and hope to outguess Turkey. Meanwhile, France crosses into the Mediterranean and I'm forced to abandon the assault on Turkey in order to defend the homeland.
Is there any merit to an anti-Austrian opening? I've always taken for granted that in a gunboat you should just assume that Italy and Austria are natural allies and pray that Austria feels the same way.
Italy's possibilities are limited only by the scope of your imagination. Turkey, Austria, Germany, France, even England... All can be attacked in the relatively early game. You have quite a bit of power to dictate the course of action as Italy, make no mistake.
I've seen the fake-Lepanto Austria stab a ton recently. However, I don't recall seeing many Italy's who do it do particularly well in the game, although it certainly could if Russia feel's it's a good time to stab Turkey.
A proper Lepanto (with Austria and Italy both playing it properly) also works great. That is, unless France has a solid alliance, see's what's up, and sends a couple fleets down to force you to withdraw from it (because he never wants to see Italy steamroll Turkey)
I think Austria is in a much tougher place than Italy when it comes to succeeding in a gunboat game. He's pretty much dependent on Italy deciding not to attack him to do well in the game.
Three build Italy is a good way to gain immediate power but that's tough to maintain. I'm terrible at gunboats as a whole and I agree, Italy is rough anyway and worse in gunboat fashion, but I think it is manageable with a good player as Austria. If Austria attacks you, you're pretty much doomed, even if you fight him off.
Any Austria who is attacking Italy had better be sure R/T are going to be fighting for at least three seasons, and then they had better hope it's Russia who wins. What does Austria have to pick up off Italy? If they use three units, and have 1 defending Vie, Serbia, and Bud, then then can pick up Vie. (Two if they own Greece, but that's also an additional unit to defend.) Don't attack Italy as Austria in the first couple years unless I'm in Turkey.
In the recent Dubmdell 5 Gunboat Tournament Italy won 2 games, France, Germany and England won one each and the other 2 games were disappointing 5WDs. Here's Italy's winning games:- gameID=92413, gameID=92415.
My recipe: the Bohemian Crunch and patience. It always works. For example, in gameID=98220 I was fighting a competent Austria, who was helped by Germany, and I still destroyed him. I had to wait five years, though. In the end, I didn't solo only because of my endgame incompetence.
Thanks for all of the advice. I can't promise I'll be thrilled the next time I draw Italy in gunboat, but it's nice to see the potential for more options.

Even still, threatening to silence those at the GOP National Convention who would cast delegate votes for him instead of Romney...if your ticket is so weak you can only foster party unity by silencing part of your party, what does it say about the strength and quality of that ticket?
i am tyred of ppl quiting just because they think they can ruin my game! the idea is to post here games left ,so we can find a replacement as fast as possible and continue with a new real human being as enemy.
