That would be metagaming. Outside events (the bribe) influencing game decisions (CDing).

i was talking about selling it for diplomacy points,and it doesn't influence the game decitions cause you will do your best anyway.

that is completely against the spirit of the point system

sure,the point sistem is so acurate,a newbie with more than 150 dippoints but never won a game is a member but a veteran with 8% wins but less avaible points is a political puppet.
a capitalist gaming inside a game can be an interesting aproach.
just an idea.

I think as soon as someone CDs an automated link should appear in the live games section on the forum and people should be able to join the game for free, no matter how many SCs that CD country had. What would this achieve:-
1) Make the games better and fairer
2) Potentially lead to less people CD'ing
3) I think more people would play live games if they thought they weren't going to be ruined by CD merchants
4) The quality of games would be improved and less people would get pissed off and leave the site

i like Nigee's ideas, to an extent

I think that, for one day phase + games, you should pay, but it depends a bit more on how many centers

anything with five or less centers is free
anything with 6-8 centers is half price


for everything else, i think someone should pay full price for the position.

you don't want to be able to purchase a strong power for free, or else there would be no penalty for cd'ing with that strong power as soon as something goes wrong

what do you mean no penalty?
the player who left payed and lost his bet,the joining player must be gaining something,the points are less important than the game,i will pay the joining player so i can enjoy the game.

i don't think that what Nigee means. Nigee means (at least how i understand him) says that you take over an cd for free, weather it be a two center or a ten center Austria (which i just found, oh yes. How come good AUstria's go into cd so much?)

I've found a bargain for a 6 SC Turkey that I transformed and used to win 109 pts. (gameID=93522-I took over for Turkey in Autumn of 1903 and doubled the SC's to 12.

In another game, I took over for a 3 SC England in Spring of 1904 and increased England's SC count from 3 to 11 (gameID=54381)

The miracles can happen with open games...there is always a bargain out there to take

which is why i am kind of against taking over cd's for free, since you can get those huge amounts of points without any risk to yourself.

And i have my few taking over cd stories :).

Most of us have taken over a game and solo'd, often cheaply, as a result. I think bets should be decreased to take over a CD and the points that are discounted be taken from the other account and put into the pot. I don't think this should be done in live games though because those are easy to CD if you lose internet or get dragged away (or forget). Only in day or longer phases.
