While you are right about things, you need to understand you did not come "2nd." When the game is a WInner-Takes-All variant, anyone who does not win has lost. IN the future, it will be more fun to play with you if you play to draw rather than a fictional second place, if and when it appears a victory is no longer attainable.

Bro, you came in fifth. You did just as badly, results-wise, as SplitDiplomat did, except that your play was actually several orders of magnitude worse because you had an impotent Egypt and CD Greece and still got steamrolled by Rome. You didn't even come close to "might have won" territory, and instead of fighting Rome and working with Carthage to force a draw, you basically went out and made not only yourself but SplitDiplomat and brainbomb lose as well... And then you come on the forum and brag about it.

Yea...uh benny boy let me go ahead and offer you my analysis of this game. Basically you didnt build anything for about the better part of 3 years, you clearly were failing to vote draw when you had a chance to not only earn the draw (Egypt, Cathage and Rome all input Draw votes), but you finally voted draw when the game was so far beyond decided that it didn't matter. Split diplomat is a pretty good player, he did love taking it up the ass by Rome in that game just to prove a point vs me, im sure hes studied my moves and recognized who I was, I really do need to change my tactics with Egypt. I digress, the point is, he is right, you should not be proud of 2nd you could have won back 51 and had a 4 way tie. Instead you chose to let me gobble up centers of yours as you scrambled without any idea what was happening.

Very enlightening. I now see what the cancel/draw thing does. It's a tactical group decision to screw the emerging power from his a victory. It doesn't make sense to me that a game entered upon can be cancelled or drawn, but now I know how the game is played and will adjust accordingly. I got screwed a few times by the clock too. I trusted the clock on my screen but it wasn't reliable. Is there an auto refresh or something? cause a few times my orders didn't go through and twice my builds didn't either. That's why I wasn't able to bring adequate troops around the black sea. Anyhow, it was a fun first game and I look forward to more.

To Eden, I don't think you used the word extravagant properly. Extravagant refers to something that is rich, decadent and excessive, tasteful and luxurious. To make a sarcastic comment on a '2nd place' in a WTA, you might have used 'mighty' 'steadfast' 'noble' or 'impressive' to make your point better. Luckily I, like most here, am fluent in asshole.

You need to adjust your computer clock so that it matches the game clock. You can see the real time remaining momentarily when you refresh the screen.

Regarding the orders make sure you click save. After that, refresh the board and double check that your orders have gone through.

Regarding playing second, personally I think this okay in PPSC, but WTA the priorities are different.
1. Play to win
2. If you can win play to draw
3. Failing that play to survive
4. Play for revenge

Thus when you get a sense that someone is going to run away with the game you need to rally the other players. Stop fighting each other and stop the other guy from winning. This is why wins are so rare and prized in WTA.

Funny how I have the same bad opinion about SplitDiplomat ..... A couple of times I played against him he benefited from players withdrawing early and did not respond to "Cancel" or "Draw" requests from everybody else, to end up winning. Although you could say that is the game.

Bennyboy, welcome to the site, Cancel and draw can sometimes be a way to stifle an emerging power. Draw more so than cancel. Cancel would mostly be used in the event of a folks missing turns. Sometimes you are legitimately at a stalemate and drawing is the only sane decision. The other option is to bang your head against the wall when no one else wants to draw.
