What's wrong with Turkey's fleet move west? You were on the receiving end, of course, but it was a perfectly legitimate attempt to survive for as long as possible.

Turkeys move West was most likely to try to get into Tunis, that way if Austria was able to take the Tyrhenian and Ionian. That 18th center would have to have been held by France or else they would give up the Solo.
