http://washington.cbslocal.com/2014/06/10/minute-long-change-the-mascot-ad-to-air-nationally-during-game-3-of-nba-finals/ The commercial in there will be aired in seven major markets (including Washington) during Game 3 of the NBA Finals. We've had the discussion before...but since we can all use a break from the seemingly-weekly reminders of school shootings (one today in Oregon)--1. Think they SHOULD change the name and 2. WILL the name be change soon?

Remember when Awesome Obama told us, like 32 different time that al Queda was “decimated” and “on the run”. I guess he was a fortune teller and foresaw their current mad dash to Baghdad… (And you thought Bush's "Mission Accomplished" was so naughty...tsk tsk...)

A good friend of mine's mom diagnosed with lung cancer,
total medical bill came up to 80k, and he's trying to raise that along with trying to pay off his already expensive college tuition. Anything helps, even if you just pass it along to other friends to spread the word, or keep him and his family in your thoughts and prayers, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Stanley Cup
Dear LA Kings:

You guys are pretty damn good, and you had a hell of a season. You really didn't deserve to win that game but at the same time you didn't deserve to lose it. The same can be said for every game in the series. Realistically, the Rangers could have easily been up 3-2 in the series after this game, but as it turns out, they're going home without any champagne.

In an aside, as you all kiss the cup and prance around like little kids (as you should), I'm afraid I must criticize the choice to play Coldplay when they delivered the Stanley Cup to the ice. Not a hockey song. Not a hockey band.

That's about it.

Sincerely,
A random Bruins fan

Dear America:

WAKE THE FUCK UP! YOU'RE LIVING UNDER A MONARCHY!!!

HOW COULD YOU LET THE RED, WHITE AND BLUE BE DEFEATED BY MONARCHIST BASTARDS!

WHY COULDN'T THE SHARKS HAVE CHOMPED DOWN INSTEAD OF CHOKING?

WHY COULDN'T THOSE BRAVE LADS FROM ANAHEIM WIN ONE FOR THE FLASH?

WHY COULDN'T THE DEFENDING CHA,MPS FROM CHICAGO KANE THEIR BACKSIDES?

WHY COULDN'T ANYONE ON THE RANGERS BESIDES LUNDQVIST PLAY?

WHYYYYYYYYYYYY.............!!!!!!!!!!!

Sincerely, a now-oppressed Anaheim Ducks fan...living in Los Angeles County.

P.S. The Kings really did deserve it...

I would've picked Gaborik over Williams for the Conn Smythe if it'd gone a couple more games and the Rangers still lost in, say, 7 though, I might've given it to Lundqvist...40+ stops at least twice in the 5 games, took his team to double OT twice...turnovers and an offense that couldn't figure out that you can't beat cute with Quick, you have to shoot, get the rebound, and shoot again, point blank, pretty passes will NOT cut it against the best goalie in the world.

Two years out of three the Kings are crowned...one more, and that's a dynasty. :/

And they have the makings for it too.

Damn...didn't think I'd feel this bitter when it wasn't my team, but damn...the Rangers sans Lundqvist and a couple others were a huge disappointment...

The Ducks AND Blackhawks played LA closer.

First the Seahawks, then this...

And I have to wait for September and October to see my 49ers and Ducks try and take revenge. Damn. Gonna be a long summer.............

If anyone, even a single player, in either of these organizations, tried to play a single game in the NHL, they'd never walk again.

bo_sox48 (5125 D Mod (G))
14 Jun 14 UTC
Yeah, but there are some players in the MLB that would survive. In the NBA they'd just snap their knees and maybe their necks.
Obi, how can you lambast the Rangers. They played the Kings closer than any other team. Although, how in gods name do you give up that many two point leads in a series...

Sincerely,
A Very Depressed Rangers Fan

Dear the bitter Flyers, Sabres and all you other teams 'bitter' fans,
Leafs we're 3rd place in the Eastern Conference (behind only Boston and Pittsburgh) with 14 games to go in the regular season. I have a lot more to complain about then you guys.

There are plenty of past NBA players that are tough as nails. Shaq, Michael, Isaiah, Reggie... couldn't knock those guys over if you tried. Not today.
Alpha@Omega (183 D)
14 Jun 14 UTC
Knocking someone over on ice is a bit easier. Shaq...on ice skates, I'd pay to see that.

Regarding toughness, I don't know any other sport where a player breaks his leg and gets up and finishes his shift. Hockey is the toughest sport.

Dear goldfinger:

"Obi, how can you lambast the Rangers. They played the Kings closer than any other team."

Um...no.

My Ducks AND the Blackhawks took the Kings to 7.

My Ducks were 7 seconds away from winning Game 1 before it was tied up, so 7 seconds from potentially flip-flopping that win and maybe the Series...

The Blackhawks went to OT in Game 7 and lost on a deflection.

Game 7s vs. Losing in Game 5...

7 seconds away/a lucky bounce in OT from winning the SERIES...

You went down 3-0, and lost in 5 games.

Both the Ducks and Blackhawks (especially the Blackhawks) played the Kings closer.
bo_sox48 (5125 D Mod (G))
14 Jun 14 UTC
The Kings played incredibly in the clutch (I mean *in-fucking-credibly*) and probably had a little bit of luck go their way in the postseason. The Rangers didn't play them any worse than either the Blackhawks or the Ducks and he could probably put together a decent argument to say they played them closer over each game than the others. If you're looking at only number of games, you're missing the point.
Thank you bo_sox. Now, circumstances forced me to only really watch the first two games of the series, but those first two games in LA were played incredibly close and into overtime. Rangers could have just as easily flown home up 2-0 in the series as they did down 0-2
Octavious (1705 D)

Rangers were the better team in game 2, and hit two crossbars in the OT of game 5.

Half and inch and the Rangers could have easily been up 3-2 at the moment.
