Really? I'd find that annoying. What I do is, I look at the due date on the invoice, then I make sure I pay it.

The fact that you say you *can* get that notification suggests it is an opt-in feature of Twitter, yes? (I don't use Twitter so I don't know). But you weren't asking for the proposed notification emails to be opt-in, you suggested they would be opt-out, instead, I believe. If it was opt-in, disorganised people like you would need an automated notification email reminding them to opt in.

Mintz, sorry, but you seem to be the issue, really, not the reminder thing. It's only my opinion, so take it for what it's worth.
Anyway, for full press, you have to find the time regularly and you can't really say (nor think) that you need to be reminded to save your orders. Just because you need to log on often, it will be natural to check the site.
Your suggestion could be good speaking about no-press; in my opinion, just informing that a game started could be great.

But no, FD, I don't want to implement it :P

My suggestion was to be warned only when the games start. This could really help even in live games....
But I can't implement it unless it could be done with an excel worksheet, LOL

not really, if you leave the site AT ALL in a live game you are screwed

Okay, well this was a productive thread. First, clearly if such a feature was implemented the default would be set to off, the site isn't going to suddenly start spamming emails if this feature is added. Second, how can anyone actually say whether or not an email will make playing this game easier for someone else or not? There are advantages to it for a light player who's only in say, 1 3 day phase game. If he does not want to log in every day, only when he gets a message or when the phase turns then an email feature would be ideal. Just because it's not an idea you like doesn't mean it's a bad one.

If the feature was by default set to off, and had to be activated by the user, Mintz would probably not remember to turn it on, so it wouldn't solve his problem.

If implemented, it needs to be per game not account so live players can get reminders on non-live games b ut not be spammed by their live games.

I love how people begin to accept it more when Mintz storms off in rage :-)

I think an email saying a game have started would be the most helpful thing in this case.

Gilgatex had email notification on his webdip implementation (goondip). He said it decreased NMRs. I can see it being useful. But, I would expect it to be off by default. And perhaps done as a set of options. Do you want email notification of Private Messages? Do you want email notification of (non-live) game phase changes? Do you want email notification of (non-live) in-game messages? I can't see a reason to send an email for any live game, but maybe someone else can think of something.

Live game starts could be useful as they can be set up a week in advance. So a 30 minute reminder on live game starts might be appropriate.

I still think the mobile site would be a worthwhile time investment. I swear i spend more time playing from my phone than my computer.

I agree with Alderian, and I do not think that an app would be needed for a phone. Most smart devices already alert you when you get an email, and if not that is something easy to set up. An email setting on the site itself with a checklist for the types of games you want reminders for would be fairly simple and effective.
