Uncertified software installed in voting machines in 39 Ohio counties
Ohio 2012 may be a repeat of Georgia 2002 and Ohio 2004.

Even his Wikipedia article has the crux of the story in it. You're hopeless if you can't see anything wrong with what happened there.

If this is the biggest example of malfeasance in Cook County then the place is truly unfairly maligned Every 2 years Ohio has multitudes of cases which are far worse than this.

Illinois does not preside over fair elections. Nowhere in the US has fair elections, probably no where in the world. It starts at gerrymandering, runs through the laws candidates have to follow to get on the ballots, continues into how parties field their candidates, and ends at the voting booth, then gets renewed during challenges.

I just thought it was a fairly powerful example, but if hiding the consequences of a stroke so your son can succeed to your county presidential fief, with the Daley Machine cheering it all on, doesn't shock you into thinking elections are not all that fair in Cook County then nothing will.

Re: Romney supposedly being.in business with the voting machine company. Go to snopes.com and do a little research. This is a fabrication.

Re: the OP. I'm on my phone so hard to research, but I bet it is either a leap of faulty logic, an exageration of the facts (somebody put notepad++ on the machine to edit a config file! gasp!) or an outright fabrication.

How is this any different than this?

No, his supporters are.

H.I.G. Capital's co-founder, Anthony Tamer, previously worked at Bain & Company, the global consulting giant where Romney was once CEO. Eight of the company's managing directors came from Bain as well. Tamer and his wife are major Romney donors, having each contributed $50,000 to the pro-Romney super PAC Restore Our Future. Tamer has also donated $75,000 to the Romney Victory Fund.

And Tamer has plenty of company at H.I.G. Although it isn't a particularly big firm, H.I.G.'s directors have collectively given so much money to Romney that their company is the sixth biggest contributor to all Romney committees, as calculated by opensecrets.org.

A local hero named Bob Fitrakis broke that story. Glad the mainstream media picked it up.

As for the Stroger saga being different than wives succeeding their husbands in the Senate, I can only say that you obviously haven't looked into this in even a cursory way. Just look at the Tribune's archives. It's hardly a right-wing rag.

But considering you've found a way to justify three generations of family rule in North Korea within your commie worldview, I don't expect much out of you.
gramilaj (100 D)

And deodorant body spray? What is this? The Soviet Russia of smells?

"(somebody put notepad++ on the machine to edit a config file! gasp!) "

Actually, when the elections result files are stored on a Windoze machine in a plain text file with no security whatsoever - not even a checksum - I would consider having a text editor on the tabulating machine to be a serious problem. ES&S disagrees, however.

"Even his Wikipedia article has the crux of the story in it."

Pfft. Is that it? California voters elected a corpse for Congress in 2010. All hail our first zombie congresswoman! I can think of bigger scandals in Illinois electoral politics and I don't even live there.

It was specifically Cook County we were talking about.
Putin33 (111 D)

The Tribune endorsed his primary challenger. In fact Claypool had the entire Dem establishment on his side. He still lost. Turnout was low. People knew going into it they were voting for an appointment by the Cook County Central Committee. They had a chance to vote for Claypool. They didn't do so. Boo hoo.

Chicago politics aren't realllly infamous for instances of voter fraud, they're famous for shit like like this: http://www.aopa.org/whatsnew/newsitems/2003/03-1-157x.html

Basically Daley "we want to shut down this airport, oh no, we can't get the votes together...DISPATCH THE CATERPILLARS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT!"

Unilateral action by the democratic machine in Chicago is the infamous part, alleged voter fraud (mostly famously in the 1960 presidential election) is just a corollary.
It's not the votes that count. It's who counts the votes - Josef Stalin.

The Redskins Rule--RGIII vs. Cam Newton for the Presidency!
17 out of the last 18 elections it's been the case that if the Redskins win their last game before the election, the incumbent president wins; if they lose, the challenger wins.
SO! Months of campaigning and billions of dollars comes down to RGIII and the Redskins on Sunday...vs. the 1-6 Panthers and a slumping Cam Newton. ...Sorry, Romneyites...HAIL TO THE REDSKINS, HAIL VICTORY... ;)
