These are all WTA games. I am not going to tell yu how to play them, as they are ongoing gunboats, but we all can agree that they are WTA games.

Your play in that past game was not WA behaviour. It was weird and counter-intuitive. Only you believe there is a victory in having the highest combined SC count, so if this imaginary result is what will give you the most satisfaction it is your prerogative to play for it.

Just don't be surprised if nobody is congratulating you for it, in fact, if you grab SCs and cost draws likely people will deem you the tourney's biggest loser.

Just my two cents. Hopefully I have no unjustly impacted the remainder of the games.

I have to agree with lando here. I was completely trying to play the game as WTA. It's a little frustrating when not everyone is on the same page for victory conditions. No fault of yours Czech, I guess we could have discussed this earlier.

I was a little surprised to see it was you who paid no attention to the solo but I guess this gives a good explanation for it.

Um, I cannot say this clearly enough. I gave no thought to how to win the tourney. I just wanted to have fun playing all seven powers at once and needed six more people to make that possible (and found thirteen! I feel like a hobbit on a big adventure with the dwarfes!). Please play to the best of your ability as each game is a WTA. I am sorry that wasn't clear at the start. I'll be sure to always clarify in the future when hosting something like this. Apologies to the players who lost out on a draw due to my own error. I honestly hadn't considered how to win the tourney and did not think such a thing could possibly influence how someone plays the game.

Looking at the game again, I was surprised that France didn't throw when Belgium was under attack. Now we know why, and apologies to the Czech especially that he made an error under false assumptions. I really do feel bad about that, but I'm glad it has come to light.

Is that why the 5 games were all like 1907 before eliminating anyone?

Maybe I have my "Tourneys" cionfused. Is this tourney a 3 gunboat, 1 full press and 1 global press only tourney like the Purple Dishwasher, etc.. games that NigyBaby has been running odd on?

This summer I started playing in several of those tournies where the total SC count from 3 gunboats, 1 full press, and 1 global press game determined the winner. The games were all WTA, but the SCs from each game added up to determine the overall winner of teh tourney. If this is not the case I am sorry, I would have supported Russia and not stabbed France. I prefer the draw than letting someone solo which is why so many of you are confuse. If the tourney IS LIKE the ones I've described then my strategy is just.

So, how is this tourney set up and what are the requirements for winning it?

Just saw dubnell's post. Since tehre isn't a way to "win" the tourney, then I will play for fun and forget about SCs or points. Back to my old self.

For the record though, despite my disappointing play, I've really enjoyed this format. A good way to get into gunboat.

1. I concur with yonni (agreeing with lando, surprised that it was czech and finding no fault in czech)

2. I too am really enjoying this format. I like that there's no formula for winning the "tourney", although it would have been better if everyone was on the same page.

3. No one is having as much fun as me. In fact, I'm about to solo on fun. Most of you will at least get a survival on fun, but I fear lando has been defeated in fun. Sorry.

4. When do we start the next round (so that every combination of player/nation/neighbor is played)?

I'm going for 34 centers in fun, so you lose anyway.

"going for". Pft. Yeah, ok. Good luck with that. There's a clear stalemate line you'll never cross. Czech has got the "wrong tourney rules" SC locked up with three support holds. Lando's got the other front locked up by talking to his neighbors in PMs. And there's no way you can take yonnis fun SC from him, it may be Switzerland for all we know. Finally, just when you think there's a still a chance of getting all 34 centers in fun, that's when I swoop in with my flying Dutchmen and steal away crucial fun.

Yes. It appears your fun SCs were stabbed by Czech. A foolish move on his part as it allowed me to solo the fun.

While that game may not have been the most fun for me (never got more than my starting three SCs), you may be surprised by the fun-results from the remaining games.

I have been PM my neighbours and I assure you all I am having more fun than them.

One think I cant take away from this experience is that this isn't *real* fun. Without having diplomacy how can you even call it fun? It's a whole different thing entirely.

Yeah, I was hoping to sneak into part of the stalemate line as Spain or something. But that didnt work out. France played a great guessing game to prevent my rogue fleet (even with Russia applying pressure from the other end). In fact, I think Jo could've gotten the solo with the possibility of France and Russia miscommunication.
