I am really concerned about Mario's policies towards the big banks. Has he collected enough coins to compete with the other candidates in this game?

On a serious note I wanna point out that nowhere in the rules is the definition of "substantial" ever explained it says a post containing only a vote doesnt count. So let me ask this.

post 1: ##Vote _____ and I also say blah blah (no literally thats what I say)

post two: blah blah and blah

post three: hmm is this blah?

post four: doesnt say what is blah or isnt blah a sentence..? 1 word? 70 words?

"Substantial" has always been used in the rules for every game. In M17, it was 2 substantial posts. We're simply asking or 5 substantial posts.

I agree with you Jamie, but we already upped the minimum post, so for this goaround, I think we can just say that it will be the same as past games.

Yes, bo, ok, but for example if I made a vote, and then posted five times in quick succession, with each post containing only the words:

"This is a substantial post"

...if I took no other actions during the day phase, would I be modkilled or not?

It's also subjective as to what "A post about the game" constitutes.

If 2 players want to discuss the weather, maybe it's more substantial than initially meets the eye.

Player 1: "It's raining in Kiev this evening and I will not be able to visit my friends"
Player 2: "Oh dear, I'm sure your friends will miss you. Who would you visit if you could get to Kiev? Damned weather."
Player 1: "I'd be visiting my old uni friends but we'll have to postpone. Yeah damned weather, makes me so angry it makes me feel like killing someone. Brainbomb you're dead. Haha only kidding."

A substantial post is what it's always been: anything of substance. We're not here to decide substance; but we are here to ensure gameplay.

Someone who turns up and posts variations of "blah blah blah" wouldn't be providing substance but there's also be ruining their own game, and breaking multiple other rules such as not playing to win and not playing within the spirit of the game. The rules are there to advise and encourage common sense.

@Jamie: As I say above, if you did that you wouldn't be playing within the spirit of the game and would therefore be breaking other rules too.

In your example, you would have made 1 substantial post, and then repeated it 4 times. Repetition isn't substantial.

For what it's worth, we looked back at previous Mafia games and found that:

1) almost all players were posting at least 5 times anyway within each game level.
2) the vast majority of players post more than 5 posts in any given game level.

2) Does Flower-Power (vote*2) have to be declared at the time of voting, or can it be announced and then the vote cast later in that phase? How is the possession of flower-power verified?

Doc: Can they protect the same person repeatedly? Can they self protect?

Will the Blaster / Vig / Sniper all share the same kill message? If the Vig / Sniper end up with the blaster do they need to specify which shot they're using?

The 1-UP does not save from the strongman, correct?

@Jamie ... some players have done that in the past as mafia. Town should be looking for that kind of thing. It's a fairly easy tell. I agree with wj that that isn't within the spirit of the game and that mafia should be trying to play to a more elevated level than that but if someone tries to pull something like that, the town should get all over them without a GM intervention in the first place.

I'll let wj answer the inventor questions, I'm on my phone and don't have our roles pulled up.

@ Teacon: In all previous games, using a gun does *not* reveal the shooter's identity and I'd assume it is the same on this occasion.

##CALLGM - Can the shooter set a time that after which the shot will go off? This is something that was introduced last game (I think) and is a fantastic idea, because it prevents the ability to use timestamps to determine the shooter's identity.

I didn't notice that last time?

@teacon: When the blaster gun is used, it does not reveal the identity of the shooter. It will only reveal the identity of the victim. This also applies for gunshots from the vigilante and sniper.

@brainbomb: The Vigilante has 2 shots but can only target at night. The Sniper has 1 shot and can target at day or night.

@DemonRHK: Any gunshot message will be the same. If the Vigilante or Sniper receive the Gun Blaster, the Gun Blaster will take precedent over their inherent power role, if they choose to use the item they received.

@teacon: The Flower Power does not need to be declared/used; but if you want to use it then it must be declared. Once declared, all votes you make will be doubled for that Day, regardless of the amount of times you switch your votes around.

The GMs will verify Flower Power when a vote count is provided, or the GMs can announce the Flower Power at the player's discretion.

You don't need to vote as soon as your vote doubler has been announced.

@DemonRHK: Flower Power does not save from the Strongman.

##CALL GM: If the Sniper is given a Gun Blaster, and they have not already fired their sniper shot, can they fire two shots that day?

@Jamie: The Sniper may only shoot once per day. If there are no other mafia members left, the Sniper will have returned to base and gained the ability to kill at night and therefore lost the sniper shot if it is remaining, but will still be able to use a Gun Blaster if it is received.

@captainmeme: Within reason, yes, the gunshots can be set to go off "after" a certain time, but not at a specific time, i.e., a request that "the gun shot must go off at 4 in the morning" will be rejected, because GMs aren't a 24-hour call service.

##CALL GM: Just to be 100% clear, if it is Day 2, and the sniper did not fire yet, and they have been given a Gun Blaster, they may fire the Gun Blaster but may NOT use their sniper shot that day. Is that correct?
