Build Location Bug

Italy can't build fleets in Rome and Naples, and I can't build an army in Constantinople. Coincidentally enough, that's what we built in each of those locations before the reset.

"Clean" maps?
I apologize if this has been brought up before. I haven't been able to find it in the FAQ or rules though. Is there a way to view a "clean" map of the board, without the attack and support lines of the previous turn?

Order of Countries in reports
Why are country's orders reported in the order EFIGART
I would have thought that either EFGIART or AEFGIRT would have been the norm,
not that it is a big thing... in fact it is a little tiny pick, but I am always curious as to why certain things are done by programers.

To the French Minister,

In light of all that has transpired The Kaiser shall accept your stay in Ruhr for 2 seasons. He asks what you consider two seasons however, for you entered last season, which would make this your final season of occupation. Whatever you think it may be, we hope that after such time you will be peaceably removed so that our nation can once again enjoy the production from our industrial centers in the Ruhr and true peace can begin.

We thank the leaders of England and France in this our.

Do not attack us, and we will not attack you. Austria has already expressed the same concerns as us. Conspiring against us shall not win our favor.

Austria welcome new central rule in the state of Italy. We stand open to negotiations, and will send a renowned Viennan theatre group, with some fine women the Czar talked of. We hope Herr Rossiloni can appreciate the fine arts.

06 Nov 08 UTC
To the French - what, exactly, do you consider "too far west"? If you have rapprochement with your neighbors, what are your goals?

To the Czar - in light of the pending alliance of Germany, France, and England, we perhaps should consider whether it would be more wise to forgive previous transgressions against us by the Dual Monarchy and see if it is possible to form our own agreement of peace in the east as they have formed one in the west.

Of course, this will require the assent of Austria.

Rossilini of Italy,

Wishes to ensure the nations of Europe that Italy at this time has only two policies.

1. To support or French ally as needed against the Aggressive germans. If no help is needed they the Italian troops will start moving back to the homeland (if I can process the orders properly).

2. Help out our Turkish friends with any help they may require.

The fleet in Tyr Sea was moved there only to help stablize matters until the new govt came in.
Maica (145 D)
07 Nov 08 UTC
To Rossilini of Italy,

I'm not quite sure you see who is occupying whom at the moment. I think the French will be quite all right against the "Aggressive Germans." We find this Ironic coming from you, the nation that has failed repeatedly to invade Our good neighbors the Austrians. You have been perhaps the most aggressive nation of any. You spoke of peace earlier with us, and now you have tempted France to invade the German Empire Repeatedly.

I think this new Government is simply a sham put up by the Italians to invade the German homeland with the help of the French. We Germans thank the French for not succumbing to such requests and maintaining peace with Germany.

Kaiser Wilhelm II

The prime minister of Austria agrees to her eastern collegues; weakening ourselves in the face of growing western powers could mean the end of us all. What if England and Germany decide Russia gets 'too mighty'? And it's good, for the sake of peace. The Austrian government is even willing to grant the Sultanate rule over Greece so that he can strenghten his position in the Mediterranean. As peacekeepers and bringers, it is of most importance to quell all unrest in these quarters. However the new Italian leadership bodes well, Austria watches her movements carefully - chaos might still rule.

The Sultan is willing to enter into a mutual protection pact with his neighbors, Russia and Austria. Similar to what is being proposed elsewhere in the world, the terms are as follows:

* No hostile acts against signatory powers. 'Hostile', in this case, includes attacking, supporting attacks, or failing to support agreed upon defenses. Details, of course, can be left to the diplomatic staff, but it should be fairly obvious to all what is intended in this clause

* An attack on one is an attack on all, and will bring an immediate response. This is meant as a defensive alliance, it should be noted, and the Sultan does not and will not encourage foreign adventurism on the part of his allies. Having said that, of course, it would be impossible to stand by while an ally was invaded by others, no matter the provocation.

The Sultan greatly appreciates the Austrian position re: Greece, but is still willing to consider ceding the territory next year. With two friendly powers on each border, the Sultan will not require a garrison in Anakra. In the current uncertainty in the world, Austria may find a new unit more useful than the Sultan.

The Sultan is more than willing to extend the treaty to the new government in Italy, but would need the consent of the other signatory powers before being able to make that offer.

(seven way tie everyone? ;) )
trim101 (363 D)
07 Nov 08 UTC
The Czar will gladly accept the treaty and gives his consent to the offer of it to Italy
Ursa (1617 D)
07 Nov 08 UTC
The Austrian Empire would like to thank the Sultan for being so generous. We will view this as a sign of trust and mutual understanding. Peaceloving as our nation has ever been we find joy in the prospect of a 'Pan-Slavic' agreement (or call it the Warschaupact). However, as winter is falling in, the Italian government has yet to show us they can indeed be trusted. So the Austrian government has decided to wait with confirmation until January 1904. It would be marvellous if all nations can agree to peace. One asks himself if a open game would give this result anytime? Ofcourse, in normal gameplay some players don't talk too much and as as such would become easy targets in Wilson diplomacy. But that's also a good thing; this variant makes people talk. :)
Ursa (1617 D)
07 Nov 08 UTC
To our friend the Czar,

officially the Austrian and Russian Empire are still at war. We offer you peace in the light of our agreement of mutual protection. We have just one demand: that Russia will retreat from Galicia next year. We hope you are willing to grant this demand and life in peace with us once again.

With hope,

Georg von Staufenberg

my troops will occupy galicia for this turn then move out next turn i hope that is agreeable Georg von Staufenberg?I would also like to say in these times of peace Galicia has seen many soldiers maybe its time that they were left in peace for a while
Ursa (1617 D)
07 Nov 08 UTC
Yes, certainly. And we agree the people of Galicia should have some rest and not be disturbed by the marching of soldiers. Let us agree to a DMZ to strenghten our relationship.
trim101 (363 D)

Ursa (1617 D)
07 Nov 08 UTC
Pity, Sultan Stratagos, that you do not hold to your word. Why offer us Greece while you have no intention to give it back? How can we trust you in our new found defensive alliance?
trim101 (363 D)
07 Nov 08 UTC
he did say that he would think about conceding it next year, not that previous move
Maica (145 D)
07 Nov 08 UTC
So, the three nations of Germany, England, and France have agreed to a western treaty, and the Nations of Turkey, Russia, and Austria have an Eastern treaty. Of course, each individual nations has several other treaties amongst the others. So, that being said the only nation anyone can attack at the moment is Italy, and he is sure to sign the eastern treaty.

So, we could keep holding our positions for several years to see which one of us attacks the other first. But I think a more reasonable agreement is the 7 way draw.
Friendly Sword (636 D)

Greeting peaceful nations of Europe! I am currently sitting for the President of France and have looked over this game with some amusement. Shouldn't we try to acheive something? I don't mean to interfere with your everyone wins philosophy but perhaps just kill Italy? Don't take this is a general policy view but everyone seems very timid. Just saying.

Interim President of France
Maica (145 D)
07 Nov 08 UTC
Cher President,

Italy is the only nation that is not protected under a larger treaty. So, if you are not willing to aid him I say have at it. It would be nice to have accomplised something. Currently only Russia ans Austria have played this game like usual diplomacy (war). But if you look at the other public forum game, the absence of an active france seems to have triggered the more military ends of this game.

All of our diplomay has been stellar. I think it more that should we have opened war with everyone everyone would cry warmonger and use that as an excuse to destroy that country. Plus the fact that we all boxed ourselves in with numerous NAP's meant if we broke them we would no longer be trusted.

So, Italy has threatended me a lot, so if you want to kill him go for it. This is a very amusing game though. Im still ok with the 7 way draw.

Ursa (1617 D)
09 Nov 08 UTC
Hello, the Government of Austria is back after a little sabbatical. It is good news that other nations have seen the chaos and disorder our neighbours are in. Also we are aware of the fact the Pontiff has chosen to flee to Avignon. This situation must end, for the sake of peace for all. We promise our help to the French and German government to quell the strirrings of Italian rebels.
stratagos (3269 D(S))
09 Nov 08 UTC
(since we're talking dogpile here, *but* I don't like to break deals)

The Sultan wishes to know if the people of Naples would like a fleet visit. Y'know, just to hang out, enjoy the scenery, take all the supplies and burn your fleet at the docks...

Y'know, that kind of thing. But just for the good of the children, you understand...

(and so I have a toehold out there if we don't go for a six way when everything is said and done)
