Build Location Bug
http://phpdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=7151

Italy can't build fleets in Rome and Naples, and I can't build an army in Constantinople. Coincidentally enough, that's what we built in each of those locations before the reset.

Here...the stupidity of Zxylon.
Zxylon is a fool. Madmarx is going to be 3500 points up because of that.
I request two things: 1. We remove Germany. 2. We draw 4-way.

I dont think Zxylon is in the wrong here, and feel that Gobbledygook was wrong to describe him as stupid. I feel what MadMarx did by putting him on the spot and probably making Zxylon feel guilty about not supporting him was wrong.

i've been surfing through the game history... wow, the work of a master. it never occurred to me it was fake

He agreed to let me take 17 SC's and draw or he would have destroyed me much sooner. He was going to do it but it didnt work so Im going to let him take those points. I dont feel bad at all about it.
"I feel what MadMarx did by putting him on the spot and probably making Zxylon feel guilty about not supporting him was wrong." That was part of the game and should not be debated here. Thats part of Diplomacy, its why we play.

Gob is still in the game.

well zxylon i think it's very naive of you given the magntitude of the game but credit to madmarx, he must have whispered some sweets words in your ear
why the hell are people criticizing zxylon for something that went on in a game? Lazysummer, should we go through all your games and point out your mistakes? What the hell?!

Not really. I just play with a certain set of principles. Im not playing for anyone else but me. I just know when to accept defeat.

@lazy - and perhaps it was the magnitude of the game that called for such a desperate action on his part. It was an all or nothing attempt. A hail Mary, a half-court shot at the buzzer, or a hocky or soccer equivilent if there are such equivilents.

kinda seemed like a dead thread to me alamothe - why bump?

I guess this will cause an unintended bump just by asking why bump but that's the breaks - I gotta know

Yeah...a last-ditch attempt.
Well, France has won already, and the only thing I can do now is remember to take out Zxylon first next time I see him.
Ah..Metagaming again Gobbledydook..... Very classy.

England's EOG
I foolishly made an agreement with France to leave EC demilitarized for the 1st year with the intention of moving together against Germany. In Spring 1901 France took the EC while Germany also made aggressive moves against me. It was over before it began.
dangermouse: could you elaborate on why it was foolish? From my (admittedly non-ideal) perspective, it sounds like a simple calculated risk.

dangermouse, just out of interest, who proposed the dmz in the EC, you or France?

Austria's EOG

I was allied with Italy from the start against R-T. It worked badly at first,me once being put down to 3 SC by R-T. Then we realized that Germany was on France's side, not ours, so we and Russia united to fight them and Turkey. Our line was solid until Germany was stabbed...then we had to help Germany to stop France getting to 18. I don't know why, and that's why I'm complaining, but Germany suddenly threw the game to France by abandoning Munich to attack us. We managed to stop Germany but France had a clear road to 18 by then.
Down with Zxylon! I'd like to see his thoughts though...as well as MadMarx's.

"Clean" maps?
I apologize if this has been brought up before. I haven't been able to find it in the FAQ or rules though. Is there a way to view a "clean" map of the board, without the attack and support lines of the previous turn?

Order of Countries in reports
Why are country's orders reported in the order EFIGART
I would have thought that either EFGIART or AEFGIRT would have been the norm,
not that it is a big thing... in fact it is a little tiny pick, but I am always curious as to why certain things are done by programers.

Question
Don't worry, it's related to Diplomacy.

What's the general rule of thumb for backstabbing a weaker ally? How many more SCs should I have before turning on my ally?

Does it play more like the real game now?

Why don't we make it so that you can specify the length of the pause in days when voting. I shall elaborate in the next post.

Hey- Let me say how awesome it is to be able to easily play this entire game on a smart phone. Now I can't resist checking for messages from other players to plan a stab while I am at work, on lunch, in traffic, in long winded meetings, or relaxing on the couch.

Retreat Phase Suggestion
I know this has been brought up before, but I don't remember if there was support or not so I'll bring it up again. If a unit is dislodged and has no retreat options can we please change the code so a forced disband is automatic? It's incredibly annoying to wait on somebody to order his forced disband.

Bug?
http://phpdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=6952

This seems pretty basic, but there's either a bug, or I don't understand the rules? Take a look at the Iberian peninsula. Shouldn't the English attack on Spain cut the support to Mid-Atlantic Ocean?
