I intned to use WebDiplomacy to teach a high school class.
I'm considering using my school's computer labs to allow my students to play web diplomacy. Any pointers as to rule adjustments or things to watch for while I do this?

Adding new maps
What is the process to get maps added to this site? I'm new here, but I've been a fan of Diplomacy for a while, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that there are maps that can be played other than the standard WW1-Europe map.

Why Americans Hate the Media
17 year old article, but I feel that a lot of it still rings true today. A long read, but very interesting.

Pope Francis and Atheists
In recent comments, Pope Francis called atheists, "precious allies" in their efforts "to defend the dignity of man, in the building of a peaceful coexistence between peoples and in the careful protection of creation." I'm curious what both Catholics and atheists think about these comments.

Hey krellin
Do you think President Obama was born in the United States? Yes or no. No need to comment on "evidence," just a simple one word answer. Anything else will solidify our perception of you as a crazy conspiracy theorist.

If he was born in Hawaii before 1959, Hawaii wasn't a state yet, and /obviously/ that means he isn't a natural born citizen. Look at Puerto Rico. They aren't having American babies. They're having Mexican babies.

This thread could lead anywhere. Did the US really land men on the moon? Was there a second gunman on the grassy knoll? Are aliens being kept at Area 51?
King Atom (100 D)

Dude, there has never been a U.S. Government. Ever. It's all a lie that we've propagated for centuries. Obama was never elected, and there's only a couple dozen people between D.C. and all the military.

Yes to real moon landing
Yes to gunman or gunmen on grassy knoll
No to aliens at Area 51
Maybe to Obama being American-born
xBhuffx (105 D)

Everyone knows that aliens aren’t kept at area 51 they’re obviously kept in the subterranean super-complex that spans the entire continental United States. Our “government” isn’t that stupid enough to keep aliens at area 51.
jimgov (219 D(B))
16 Mar 13 UTC
Wait. Please don't say "our government isn't that stupid." Now you are bringing in reality into this conversation.
Tolstoy (1962 D)

The aliens were moved from Area 51 to Wright-Patterson airbase, so they're not at Area 51 any more.
The shooter on the Grassy Knoll was Sicilian hit man Lucien Sarti, or possibly CIA operative E. Howard Hunt.
As for Obama's country of birth, does it really matter?
nudge (284 D)

Thank you, Tolstoy. Can anyone tell me why Obama's birthplace matters?

Not even the Yank military is stupid enough to believe that the life imprisonment without trial of beings from an alien nation who could destroy life on Earth on a whim would be a good idea. I have no idea how this conspiracy theory ever gets any credit.

@ nudge

It matters because the US has laws against the American people electing exactly who they want. Nobody knows why they have laws like these. Possibly to stop the Irish taking over :p

Having read that, I repeat: Can anyone tell me why Obama's birthplace matters?

Australia get's along just fine with our many foreign-born heads of state and heads of government thru our history.

this is retarded. even if he werent who really cares. there are a lot of accusations you could make about pretty much anyone. unless you can really definitively prove it, there is no point in wasting your time. this debate was probably formulated by the elites as a way of taking focus away from the serious issues with obama. he is one of the worst presidents in americas history. he has taken away the rights of americans more than pretty much any other president, he has started armed conflicts with imperialist goals more than pretty much any president in history. he is a piece of shit, that is what we need to focus on.

i cant even think off the top of my head of all the things obama has done but 3 great ones are 1. bombing any country where the government is not doing everything the cia wants them to (and throwing everything at destroying iran and syria which his supporters seemed to be against) 2. single-handedly transforming the office of the president into a dictatorship by issueing executive orders to do pretty much anything. you try internet censorship with sopa/pipa, massive demonstrations against it, thats fine just pass the law under an executive order... occupy wallstreet is really annoying, thats fine, shut it down with executive orders. americans still have rights? not a problem when you can take them away via executive order. 3. taking away habeas corpus for american citizens. americans now do not have the right to a trial in the united states. 4. breaking almost every single campaign promise. ending the wars day one, closing guantanamo, being the most transparent government, ending corporate or lobbyist influence etc for that matter 6. being the least transparent government of all time and prosecuting whistleblowers like no other president ever has. i could probably go on.
2ndWhiteLine (2611 D(B))

To 99.99% of this site, his birthplace doesn't matter. krellin, on the other hand, is a birther conspiracy theory far right wing reactionary and his unwillingness to admit that President Obama was born in this country proves it.
nudge (284 D)
16 Mar 13 UTC
Well, you Americans chose to deny yourselves the benefits of constitutional monarchy and chose to empower a single person as both head of state and head of government. The result is that you have yourselves a non-hereditary temporary absolute monarch, while those of us in the Commonwealth Realms live in democratic crowned republics.
jimgov (219 D(B))

I really can't believe that krellin hasn't responded to this thread yet. I think that we hit a nerve.
