It's based on the "Mornington Crescent" game, which I think was on some British late night talk show. I have no idea who originally played it, nor do I really care, but the only rule of the game is to make it to Mornington Crescent (a station on the London Underground) before the other player. Of course, the first player could just say "I move to Mornington Crescent", but that wouldn't be very fucking fun, now would it? I have no idea how "Mornington" became "Ankara," possibly due to the fact that Turkey is a Muslim country, but the point of the game is still the same: be the first to make it to Ankara. However, you want to make it there by the most circuitous means possible and also by adhering to the many rule conventions in existence. N. Stovald's tome on the game is a good resource on this. You can probably find it at a good used bookstore, or perhaps your college library may be able to track down a copy, maybe a first edition if you're lucky.
