Going on vacation, and have games open.... and no internet access while I am gone.
How do I leave, and let the game pause while someone is found to fillin?
I have just a couple that are worth pursuing! I have two where I am dominant, but just cannot finish the game.
What do I do? I'm sure I'm not the first has happened to. Thanks

Hypothetical question for y'all...
Is trying to browbeat a player in an anonymous ongoing live gunboat cheating by violating press rules or not? I'd love to hear the community's views on this.

What about adding the following functionality

President Clinton
I got to see the old guy speak today in support of Joe Donnelly (Indiana to-be Congressman I hope) and he hasn't lost much but, in his own words, he certainly has more yesterdays than tomorrows. My question is NOT political, keep that in mind, but I ask how much of an impact does an endorsement from such a political figure have on a race and should more politicians be looking to garner support from past Presidents?

Diplo-Topic: Recouping from a Stab
We all love a good stab, and we are all, admittedly, stabbers. Thus, you know everyone you play with is a lying bastard and a stabber. And yet, so many will never re-ally after a stab. Why? It's not like you *suddenly* found out Player X is a stabber, because we all are.

I hope you all understand that I am NOT a racist. Racism is an obsolete method of thinking. I am, by far, not obsolete. But if I say that certain types of people are better than other types of people, you all jump on me and call me silly names.
So quit it with the name calling. It's childish, guys.

Every little case of someone feeling denied or persecuted =/= The Holocaust. Why Do So Many Englishmen do this?
Since we finished the Austrian discuss without someone crying, here is an English opening based one.

I am curious to know why, in gunboats in particular, England opens into Skaggerak in Fall 1901. All that does is provoke a French invasion, from my experience

Why do people always choose the shittiest Austria opening?
In most of the Dip games I see on here, Austria seems to usually open with A Vie-Tri or the far worse A Vie to Bud. Why, why, why??? Why not send A Vie somewhere useful like Gal, Tyr, or even friggin Bohemia? If Austria is so worried about protecting it's home centers, why not do a Hedgehog or support themselves into Galicia? Austria has several dozen opening moves at it's disposal, and it makes me baffles me to see Austrians consistently using these.

German Beer
This is a thread for discussing how boring the Reinheitsgebot has made German beer. No variety whatsoever (would you like Lager or Lager?). No unique flavors. Americans, Belgians, and English all put Germany to shame these days.

Are beers in the Americas worth drinking, then? I ask only because Coors Light made an appearence in a Bristol pub a few months back and achieved something I never believed I'd see... Free samples of beer being ignored! We don't really see much American stuff over here.

The microbrews are.

It's a pity that other countries only get our worst beers. America has a bonanza of high quality craft beers.

Just a few craft companies which are excellent, but there are many many others - Russian River; Alpine; Bells; Founders; Three Floyds; Southern Tier; Hill Farmstead; Stone; Ithaca; Great Lakes; Alesmith; Darkhorse; and Hair of the Dog.

America has a ton of amazing beers. I feel certain that if I tried to estimate the number I would be off by an order of magnitude and some craft beer snob would chortle at me in disdain. We are fortunate enough where I live to be so close to a few craft breweries that we actually get their stuff on tap at many local bars.
Sargmacher (0 DX)

This has become even more ridiculous.

Comparing small microbreweries as example of American quality beer against commercial mass-produced German products = clearly unfair and imbalanced.

German beer has lots of variety. There are lots of unique flavours. Gose is one great example that I personally love.

How dare we compare beers to beers! We should add some arbitrary criteria to force Germany to win!

You know who else wanted Germany to win

And, FYI...Hair of the Dog's brewery takes influence from...German beer! Check their website.

Funny....Mos Americans love (lousy) American beer....which is mass produced and sells a hell of a lot more than German beer in America.

The suggestion that, just because American Beer is not popular in Europe means that American beer is bad is assinine. I don't see a lot of German food, or English food, sold in America, and yet European fucktards eat it all the time...and wash it down with their heavy beers to wash away the flavor of their disgusting food.

I tend to agree....Coors, etc, are totally different from European beers. But not any good? Bullshit. They sure as hell sell enough of it to prove otherwise.

And once again, the elitist assholes of WebDip say THEY and they alone know best...and everyone else is stupid...

I love a good micro-brew....don't get me wrong...and I'll take a *true* black and tan any time you buy me one....but suggesting that American beers are worthless is just stupid. They are **DIFFERENT**...which does not automatically equate to **bad**....elitist pigs.

Becks? Puhlease...the Becks you get in America isn't German Becks....it is WATERED DOWN!!! lol **ALL** american versions of European beers are modifed....THAT is the more hillarious part of this.

travel to Europe, drink a beer in a pub, and you'll find that crap you bought at Krogers wasn't the real thing! lol THUS...this whole conversation is retarded...based upon mostly false pretenses.

Asking a question about thing does not have to mean I missed a point elsewhere.

That said, I concede that Krellin may have had a point far deeper than I gathered from what he wrote.

The problem I actually have with craft beers is...too much alcohol! It's hard to find a good session beer in the US because the craft brewers are trying to outdo each other with the abv. Also, hops are really in, and, while I like a good hoppy beer (HopDevil is the second most recent six-pack I had), when EVERY beer tastes like a metric ton of hops was brewed into every bottle, it becomes too much.

But American definitely has a large number of high-quality beers, and an amazing diversity. If I want a dark beer, I go Duck-Rabbit. If I want hops, I go Victory. Some craft places specialize; some produce an assortment of excellent beers. It's really a great time and place to be alive if you enjoy good beer. The trends (high alcohol, heavy hops) sometimes annoy, but you can still search out those beers that are bucking the trends and just giving you the flavor you want. Plurality and choice are the hallmarks of American beers.

My two cents:

1. American version of German products and German version of American products taste VERY different. The German Becks tastes very different than the lighter tasting American version. In my opinion the German version is better. On the other hand, things like Coca Cola, candy (Snickers, M&m's, etc) taste a lot duller and less sweet in Germany than in the US. I like the American versions better.

2. America has some excellent beer, especially in craft breweries, it also has some very shitty ones.

3. The average American likes lighter beer than the average German. German beers tend to be fuller, heavier and have more flavor. That can be a good thing or a bad thing, according to what you prefer. I prefer flavor, so all things being equal I would take a German beer over an American one, but I've had many great American beers that are n par or surpass some of the German beers I've tasted.

4. Ultimately it is a matter of personal choice. As far as I've seen, it seems that Americans like blander tastes than other nations (as opposed to say Caribbean cuisine), but at the same time, like sweeter things than others (think German pastries... YUCK!). Knowing this it is no surprise that Coors Light, Bud Light and Miller Light sell so well.

Gose is a style. Cmon Sarg, the styles produced by Hair of the Dog are produced everywhere. Im puzzled that people claim Germans like darker, more flavorful beer when their market is dominated by pils and wheats.
