Rather than, or in addition to, Donor Badges, I would love to see Service Badges. Donating is great, but in reality, it doesn't help the Site as much as other things. Some Badges I'd love to see are:

TD Badge (Once we rework the Tournament Rules)
Developer Badge (Surely Alderian and Ghost deserve a Badge for their software additions)
GR Badge (Given to Top-10 in GR)

Normally, I hate Badge-hording, so I wouldn't want to give Badges to stupid things like "Being Friendly" or "Funniest". Things like that just cause people to act even stupider than they usually do. But, for real contributions to the site, I think it would be nice to give out a couple Badges as a small thank you.

We don't need an awards session, but the first two badges at least are great. The third depends on whether or not you want to judge people by GR or points...

I don't agree with the GR badge because there are different types of games and different GRs as a result. Whoi is to put one above the others? But I do agree the TD badge (like the Mod/Admin badge) and the Developer badge are in order.

There could be one GR Badge for each subcategory Alderian has made.

I still don't like GR badges. GR has it's own rights and being the number 1 GR in a category does *not* contribute to the website at all.

I also like the idea of addin trophies or badges to people's profiles for winning certain tournaments. Gives it a little prestige.

I completely disagree. Having good players very much contributes to the site.

I absolutely dislike the idea of having any GR or tourney winner badges. It serves very little purpose, and it would just give people one more reason for people to try to cheat for these "honorifics" or metagame so that they will remain in the top 10 or whatever.
Badges for people who positively contribute to the site in some way: sure.
Badges for winning: there's enough ego and e-penis on the site. We don't need to add to it.

Put tourney and GR "trophies" on the profile page, but not a badge in the forum postings.

If people cheat to win a badge, we will find them and ban them like we always have. Why should the who community lose out on a little fun because of the ~5% of the community that cheats?

Why not a badge for the only category that matters? I'm talking, of course, about +1s.
